Re: Getting Nervous About Vegas Trip!

My DD and SIL had plans to attend his cousin’s wedding in Florida.  They bought refundable tickets, and I am relieved they are seriously thinking of staying home.

We we’re considering taking our GC to Boston in August.  We have decided not to go - too many crowds, and our GD is 8 years old and not vaccinated.

Re: Getting Nervous About Vegas Trip!

My sister was in Vegas a few weeks back and she was not comfortable during the whole stay.  Many people did not wear masks indoors and social distancing was not enforced.  As there is no way to determine who has been vaccinated and who hasn't, she thought the casinos would do a better job of monitoring the situation.  Some of the casinos were quite crowded.  She had to wait a few times for an empty elevator as there wasn't a limit on how many people could be in one.  Also as one poster here said, it's hot there now.

I wouldn't go because of the heat. As far as the virus, remember that cases are not deaths - and cases range as well!! In the news lately, I've noticed that the first is what is highlighted, not the latter. That should tell you a few things.

I wouldn't worry if you have been vaccinated,  but it's  very HOT there. Here in Utah it's  been over 100 counting this weekend 20 day's now. And it isn't getting any better for many weeks to come.

Clark county, which includes Las Vegas and surrounding area is only at 42% fully vaccinated. SMH

A tourist's largest exposure will be to other tourists. There is no way to determine their vaccination percentage. Couple that with the low rate for Las Vegas, and I would cancel the trip.

Re: Getting Nervous About Vegas Trip!

If it were just a weekend trip involving no one else, I'd cancel.  But it's my granddaughter's fourth birthday (party) we're attending and my son from Atlanta with his family and my son from San Diego with his son are coming as well.  We haven't seen each other for at least two years now.  And my two year old granddaughter has an ongoing illness and I've never met her (tears are coming).  At this point, we're gonna follow through with the trip if travel restrictions don't happen.  So many are in this same predicament.

I will say that this will be the last summer I will set foot in Vegas, birthday party or not.  Too hot.

I personally would not go to Vegas at this time even if the trip was entirely comped.  It just isn't safe to be in a crowded casino with lots of unmasked possibly (probably) unvaccinated people all around you.  I woulnd't feel comfortable in a restaurant there either.  The Covid rates are up there and IMO it's just not worth putting yourself at risk and not being able to really enjoy yourself.

@Mmsfoxxie   Go and enjoy and just use common sense and extra precaution.  Have fun with the family.

Re: Getting Nervous About Vegas Trip!

My sister and a friend just returned back from Vegas.  I have no idea how it was for her because she told another relative she got into a dispute with the person she went with.  I personally, am not going anywhere that has a high rate of covid cases.  Las Vegas is one of them.  My primary fear would be packed on plane for close to 6 hours to get there.  Nope, nada, nah.

I've been to Vegas plenty of times, and do intend to return, just not right now.

You might consider wearing masks even if you're vaccinated.  Best wishes!
