Spouse and I are getting out of the house today even though there is rain on the radar. We live in west Michigan, about an hour from Lake Michigan, where the wind is supposed to kick in, producing high waves. We’re taking a ride over; going to visit an area farmer’s market that has a lavender labyrinth, have lunch, check out the waves, do some shopping, and come home whenever. Do you plan “let’s-get-out-of-the-house” days?

Yes!  DH is retired and we try to go to the beach in NJ which is an hour away about once a week over the summer.  It's certainly a change of pace the the beach is lovely.

We live in Bucks County which is home to a dozen covered bridges and in the fall we've taken  a rural road trip to go over each one breaking it up stopping for a nice lunch.

I love to explore and do new things once in a while....I just can't drive as long as I used to since I have a bad leg that aches when in the driver's seat for more than an hour.  As long as I can get up and stretch my leg for a few minutes then I can go a bit further.  DH can't drive long distances either he has his own health issues.

Re: Do you do day trips?

[ Edited ]

Yes!  In fact, I'm hoping for one this weekend.  We've been busier than I care for this summer, doing home-work type projects, so we're overdue for a relaxing weekend.  We live close to the Adirondack Park in NYS so we frequently head there for fun.  I also enjoy Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine, but they are best with an overnight.  I love finding little festivals, whether it's crafts, food, or art.  Always something to new explore and appreciate.

Haven't in a while. But when we did sometimes it was planned and sometimes it was spur of the moment. It was fun. I hope to start back doing day trips again soon.

I like to travel about 1 1/2 hours east and go visit the lakes in the mountains.  It's so peaceful up there.  The roads just opened the second week of July due to snowpack.

Or, I like to travel 1 1/2 hours west across the desert and spend a day at the casino in Nevada.  We're going there Friday so see a free concert.  An oldie, 98 degrees.

Sometimes I like to travel north about an hour and go up "fruit way" and go to the fruit stands.  They have wonderful fruits and vegetables.  Go another half hour to the cheese factory.  And along the way there's places to buy fresh berries and honey.

Our only beach in the Great Salt Lake and that's nasty.

You bet we do!  I love a day trip or a long weekend (one or two overnights).  It is a great way to go.

All the time....just spent some time in Erie PA over the weekend.  They had a great summer festival on the lake.

Sounds like a fabulous day. No, we used to do all sorts of day trips,  my health makes it a challenge.

We are going to Atlantic City tomorrow.

My DH and I do a lot of activities during the summer.  We fairly regularly get away for camping trips for a long weekend or we take our boat over to one of the Lake Erie Islands and spend the day there.

During the winter, we don't do a whole lot unless we get good snow in which case we will go snowmobiling.
