Has anyone visited Detroit and if so what do you recommend or not?  Looking for a different kind of city to visit for our next "girl trip".

@bargainsgirl  That's an "interesting" choice for a "girl trip."  DH and I were there years ago.  Went to the Henry Ford museum and saw a football game.  There is a casino.

Don't know where you're coming from or how far you want to travel, but I would agree there are better choices.

@bargainsgirl   where do you live, are you trying to stay in that area of Michigan.  They have some beach areas, Mackinaw Island perhaps?

Also in the area Mackinac Island or Traverse City then up to Mackinac Island. 

I was just there passing through with a Tauck tour. I wondered why they allowed 1/2 day for Detroit and now I know. By the time you go by Motown Records and a couple of architectuallly unique buildings that's it. We did tour the Ford Plant, H Ford Museum and that was just ok.
