Re: Describe you recent travel safety precautions

I miss traveling but we haven't due to health issues and husband being on an immune suppression med. What I wanted to say is I've had doctor and dentist appointments lately and all of the office staff asks if I have traveled in the USA or out of the country in the last ---- weeks. The number of weeks has changed at each office. But they are obviously concerned and it sounded like if anyone failed their questions, you didn't get an appointment. I was asked these questions on the phone, at the door of the office, and by the tech and the doctor. I have an acquaintance who went on a plane to California from Texas and was self quarantined for two weeks except she said she is meeting in person with friends, inside one of their houses, no masks 3 days before her 2 weeks are over. They are all being safe she said. I was invited but when I heard this, I declined. These ladies make me the bad guy for refusing. So my point is, I live in an active COVID-19 area although case counts are down AND people still do their own thing. This lady is 80 years old and the friends are the same and feel invincible. I am much younger and the only one who is concerned out of this group. The virus will be with us for many more months, I believe. What I have read science wise is this type of virus is not that easy to create an effective vaccine for, same as HIV has not had an effective vaccine. The virus has been changing some which is why the current outbreaks are not as deadly as the first one seemed to be plus we have some meds or treatments that are helping when people get sick. But we shall see. And we can't stay totally alone or not have jobs forever. We take risks as we see fits our lives.

Re: Describe you recent travel safety precautions

My husband and I just returned from a four day trip out of town...car travel.  We were able to drive straight from home to hotel.  We did have few rest and gas stops. We used gloves getting gas.  Rest stops were clean with few people....wore masks, washed hands and used hand sanitizer as well.  We got used to using our elbows to push buttons, etc.  Hotel was clean, had to wear masks when out of room. Took my own pillowcases.  Did not have daily room cleaning service.  We wiped down room upon entering.  We had daily check list from hotel for needed items....put towels and trash in hall and short time later had bag at door of clean requested items.  Also, each day, if wanted, had an order form for breakfast....make choices and list time for pick up.  In morning, go to breakfast room, pick up tray and take back to your room.  All well done by hotel staff. People did social distancing.  Everyone is used to routine now. We were outside a lot.  We had refrigerator in room so took food to make our own lunches.  Only meal out was restaurant for dinner....outdoor seating....used indoor as well.

First time since March to be out like this...fun and felt safe taking all precautions.  We can stay home and take risks here too just going to grocery store, etc.

N.J.

Staying local.  Taking vacations at my local casino resorts.   Next vacation at a casino - Thanksgiving week.  Can't wait!

Taking all the various precautions that are mandated by my state very seriously.

Not flying till there is a vaccine that has been tested PROPERLY & not rushed.  All of my fam knows this as they are spread out across the USofA.

My 96 yr old mother to date has been romping around Jamaica & DR w/her grands in toe.  My mother has discovered "instagram." Smiley LOL

Re: Describe you recent travel safety precautions

Since June, (in June) I went to Vegas for 6 days, trip 2, alone, flew from jfk to Las, there was an empty seat in the middle.  Mirage was where I was supposed to stay, but it was still closed, so they moved me to a beautiful suite at bellagio.  At that time, other than restaurants which don't bother me, not much had changed for ME, everything I usually did, I did.  My freinds came to stay with me from CO, and we really had a blast.  Now one thing that happened was, they flew from CO,  point of potential contact #1, but we lived together for days, so a bit of confusion.  Anyway, point 2, we left together, they went to Laughlin, I came home, days to possible exposure, 4, somehow, somehow along the line, they buy got mild cases of covid.  I did not.  We can't figure out how, if the got it from home, but then I'd be exposed for 4 days, same of they got it on the plane.  It's almost impossible they got it in Laughlin, since they got sick as soon as they arrived there.  Very confusing.  I tested 3 times, every 5 days for two weeks,m nothing.  So that was that, we had a wonderful time, just can't figure out how I got around it.  BTW, we did not wear masks in our room, around each other in private. But always when we went out.

Trip actually 1 and 3, Atlantic city,  may and July,  had a great time, no incidents, won a bunch, but, won over 12,000 in Vegas, just nice quite trips

Trip 4, family vacation, there's 18 of us, we went to Lake George, rented a huge house that we get every year, for 10 days , on the lake, had a boat, grandkids, it was just a beautiful trip, can't wait for next year's trip.

Next trip, in about 3 weeks were going back to Vegas with my husband this time, meeting out CO friends again, staying at Mirage in a 2 br king tower suite.  Flying jet blue again, unsure about middle seat, but we're prepared either way. Heard it's very quite again, fine with us. We're very excited, this will be our last trip until March.

Yes, there are risks, we're fully aware. But we weighed the benefits vs the risks for all our trips and have been correct in our decision so far.  We are intelligent, well informed, well prepared as possible.  Are we putting our lives at risk?  Maybe some would think,, we don't.  It's just as easy to get this at the grocery store, a restaurant, or many other places,  but for us, our choice is not to sit at home and wait until it comes after us, or choose is to enjoy our lives, prepared as humanely possibly, because no on, under any circumstances is immune to this, not us on vacation, not you, hiding in your home,  and we're not going to let it dictate our lives, that's the ONLY difference

God Bless you all, this to shall pass, the sooner the better, but be safe be prepared be wise 🙏

Re: Describe you recent travel safety precautions

I live in the greater Vancouver, BC, Canada area and I have not made any trips or vacations since the pandemic closures in March. I haven't even traveled to downtown Vancouver at all, nor have I been on public transit.

The Canadian and U.S. border is closed to non essential travel. While I might be able to travel to the U.S. to visit my mom, I don't feel it would be wise as the U.S. does not have their infection rate under control. I don't think that the border will re-open until there is a vaccine and i suspect that won't be until next summer.

I don't want to do air travel at all right now.

We don’t do a lot of traveling normally, but when we have we just take the same precautions we would during any cold and flu season.

Re: Describe you recent travel safety precautions

My travel safety precaution is staying home.  Took some chances this summer, but now we are a hot spot.  No more.  DH said "I suppose I can't ask Greg for Thanksgiving, can I?"  That's his brother from 450 miles away.  No, all this will have to wait, why let down our guard now?

Staycations for us.  It makes our decision easier since on the other side of our backyard is the beach.  Still I find when I take day off from work, I end up doing domestic work instead of being a beach bum.  I need to just take the day off for real and hang out on the beach.

Re: Describe you recent travel safety precautions

NO travel, except quick one-hour jaunts to see my elderly mother. The risk is too great for any but absolutely necessary travel.
