I just got back from a cruise to Cuba yesterday. It left was the Celestyal Crystal out of Montego Bay, Jamaica. We left Jamaica and docked at Santiago de Cuba, had a day at sea, docked in Havana for 2 days, another day at sea and then docked at Cienfuegos. Cienfuegos is a lovely city and is somewhat better maintained than the other 2 cities. It is now required that those  who carry American passports participate in educational programs as that is the US government's requirement. 

 

Things in Cuba are unpredictable and changeable and what may be ok today is not ok tomorrow. It was an amazing trip but if you simply want to hang out, go to a beach and shop, it probably isn't the best place to visit, but out of the 3 cities, Cienfuegos is probably the best  for those 3 things.
