I have sailed with Viking River Cruises and AmaWaterways.  Viking beat Ama in 2 key areas, much better mattresses and no strange bathroom window with a view to the toilet from the cabin.  Food on both was similar and we liked the casual dining option of Viking's Aquavit Terrace which allowed my husband and I to enjoy a table for 2 rather than 6 or 8 people in the dining room.  We ate on the Terrace a few times.  I also like the full length veranda rather than the split design of Ama's cabin.  I hope to take a Viking Ocean cruise one day.

@World Traveler,

My mother loves river cruises and Viking is also her favorite. I went to the Mekong river with Avalon and loved it. When it comes to big ships and children Princess would be my first choice, I also liked Celebrity I wonder why the low rating. Holland America's ships are very elegant however not very family oriented.🌻
