I think this is the most iconic, beautiful castle in the world.  Has anyone ever visited it?  I've always wondered what the interior is like.  Is it furnished, used for some purpose?  Its especially beautiful covered with snow.  Its in Germany.

Yes, DH and I toured this castle on one of our European ski vacations.  Some of the rooms were dark and dreary and done in heavy dark woods.

Other rooms were breathtakingly beautiful. I vaguely remember a ballroom done all in gold.

The castle may look familiar:  I believe the Disneyland castle was modeled after the German castle you showed.

The name means Swan.

Yes, but it's been awhile. Couldn't go in many rooms, but I remember some being furnished. I think we saw the bedroom of the King. I love castles so was very happy it was on our schedule. It was a river cruise.

I visited several times when I lived in Germany. Castle was built in 1880s by "mad King Ludwig".  As far as castle interiors go, its similar to others of its vintage.

I found some pictures online which were mostly very ostentatious, as castles tend to be, bedrooms.  I'd love to visit as the area must be gorgeous.

It is so beautiful-a fairy tale castle! That's the first thing I thought.

No wonder the Disney castle was modeled after it like @jlkz noted!

Can anyone imagine dusting this bedroom?  It would take a week at least.

@Foxxee    How about lighting all those candles at bedtime?   I think I'd learn to do my bedtime routine in the dark.

One of those Travel channels years ago highlighted this castle and told the tale of how much King Ludwig  was a grand patron of  composer Richard Wagner .

I thought he had some secret pagge in the castle  and that  he based  this castle's  construction on some Wagner opera
