Re: Anyone live in Ocala, Florida? Thinking of moving there....

I have lived in Florida my entire life. There's good and bad, just like anywhere. It is unbearably hot in the summer months and of course we deal with hurricanes. Traffic is a nightmare throughout the state due to the number of tourists. Insurance rates are sky high. The state is over-populated resulting in long wait times at restaurants and really everywhere you go. But it doesn't seem to stop people from moving here!

As a true Floridian, welcome to the area. We are in The Villages. Originally grew up in Jacksonville.
Been a warm summer for sure. Hope you are enjoying it. I promise. It will cool down Smiley Happy

Definitely visit and if your considering a condo, check reserve funds, any upcoming building projects and Insurance. A friend of mine lives in Fl. Due to the building collapse

several years ago her nuilding needed  to be brought up to code. The cost was through

the roof.

That is absolutely true, the collapse happened in Surfside, Florida. The special assessments of bringing those buildings on the beach up to code are prohibitive. Not just beach properties athough all buildings of a certain age are affected in the state.
