My ENT told me to take a decongestant 1/2 hr before flying, and depending on the length of the flight, another a couple of hours in. It's worked for me for many years!

@lizziefI'm so glad you found something that works for you.  Some of the other posters have found decongestants working for them, too.  That's great!

A flight attendant taught me this when I was having ear pain so badly I thought I was going to die.  She said to pinch my nose with my thumb and pointer finger and then blow out gently through the pinched nose.  Ears will "pop" and you will be good. It really worked for me.  Hopefully it will work for you.
