They did. Part of me still believes they were traveling from abroad, with limited English and did not understand what was happening. Multiple cell phones could have been a home country phone and an overseas phone. After they left the plane, a woman (with an accent) nearby said she was not aware you were not allowed to use your phone in flight.

I've had a lot of strange things happen around me on planes. People are definitely crazy and it seems to be getting worse.

@lulu2 OMG! So glad everything was okay, but I bet you were on high alert for the entire flight, checking out the two you could watch.
As to the multiple phones, I travel with two.....my business phone and my personal. I never know when someone at the office really does need to get in touch with me. Luckily, they usually just text a line or two and we are not in long conversations.

I am going on a 4.5 hour flight in 3 weeks - from the West coast to the East coast, and I am already dreading it and thinking of cancelling!! Everything about flying scares me now, and there was a time that I flew once a month and never thought a thing about it! But, I've aged, and things have drastically changed since those carefree days!!

Sorry but, I would have been off that plane as soon as this started ... my life is more important than getting somewhere by a certain time ... there is always another flight ... better safe than sorry!!

I can't believe no one on the plane freaked out. I think if I was on there I would have been that person ...I am not fond of flying and that would have sent me over the edge.

I am not surprised by their behavior.I am currently in Italy visiting my mother and worse situations are happening in trains and buses.

I'm surprised that with all that not following directions from flight attendants, they were not removed off the plane before it took off.
Anyone arguing with the flight attendants directions needlessly is cause for alarm I think no matter what color, ethnicity, age, gender etc.And if they spoke English, they would have understood the directions.
I wonder if they were reluctant to remove them because of all the backlash recently for overly aggressive security on planes.
It sounds scary.
