We had an earlier model 5200 I think that an on/off switch and a knob to increase or decrease speed, and a high/low setting as I remember.  It worked great.

 

If you are thinking of buying go to the company site and compare prices and features!  They also have a trade in program if you have an old blender.

 

We wouldn't be without ours now and have had it more than 10 years, maybe 15.
