Re: Tomorrow 10/28/2024 Joan Rivers TSV

Just watching only a couple of presentations, I would size up in the pants.

They did say that the pants' don't have any stretch.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

I do keep coming back to the full length Joan Rivers skirt.   The midi length shimmery skirts did not look flattering, partly because of the odd length, but this full length sequin one is different.

The TSV blazer and matching pants are a hard 'no' for me, just not my style.  They did say the fabric has no stretch.  I'm so used to blazers having a little stretch nowadays that I find non-stretch blazers to be a bit snug across the shoulders on me.  Going up a size doesn't work because then it's too big all over.

For those that prefer velvet, the Susan Graver velvet blazer and the Denim & Co. sequin tank top make a nice set without being in-your-face blingy.  I don't normally go for sequins on anything but the D&C sequin tank top under a blazer is subtle and elegant.  I may buy another one in another color.

Years ago...<ahem> actually about 20 years ago...I bought fromQVCC the Gloria Vanderbilt Sparkly Beaded Jacket. It was gorgeous. It came in a lovely special Gloria Vanderbilt box with her name on it and it was wrapped in special Gloria Vanderbilt tissue. I was ecstatic.

Alas, I never had any occasions sparkly enough to which to wear my Gloria Vanderbilt Sparkly Beaded Jacket. I don't lead a very sparkly life.

The Sparkly Beaded Jacket sat in my closet in its special box and special tissue for years and years. Still no occasions sparkly enough to wear it.

I finally, with a heavy heart, I gave it, along with its special box and special tissue, to the Goodwill. I hope it has found a home with someone with asparklierr life than I have.

@AuntMame I have done similar things with clothing purchases.  I like to be ready....just in case!

I can sometimes let my imagination get a bit carried away thinking of the times I will be attending some glamourous party or event.  Usually that doesn't happen.

I did buy some wide leg velvet pants that are super comfortable to wear for the holidays even if I'm just around family and a semi-sparkly sweater to two.

Several places are showing many more "festive" pieces this year; Chicos has a really great silver-sparkle dress I love but again, no place to wear it as far as I know this year. Their clothes fit me much better than Talbots, where I guess more flat-chested ladies shop; that is definitely not me; their clothes fit me perfecty everywhere else...but not the chest.

I think the Joan Rivers soft shimmer is so much better than glittery fabric...just hate that; too disco-flashback to me!  I think it hits just the right note for festive but subtle. No glitter for me, ever.

@Cheeky14 I prefer Chicos too.  I love some of their items compared to Talbots which has a more classic style.  Talbots offers petites but other than sleeve length I don't care for how a lot of their tops fit.

This year Chicos has some outstanding sweaters and I noticed even on their regular sizing that most of the sweaters are 26.5" long!  That's much shorter and what I like than the sweaters sold here.  My only problem being a shortie is that I have to cuff the sleeves.
