Re: Tempur-Pedic TSV - June 27, 2024

I need a very, very firm mattress.

I appreciate any suggestions.

Preferably one that hasn't been sprayed with strong odor chemicals.

Years ago, it took a week to air out a new mattress.  Windows open, etc.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

My current mattress is very comfortable but it's not deep and most all sheets now are. Semi-interested in this thinking it would give me more depth to my existing mattress so I can replace my sheets. I used to get the old feather mattress tops from QVC but every day when I made the bed, I'd have to completely take off the sheets to shake it up. Bunching would be my only concern with this one. Mattress buying used to be so easy but, with so many choices now and so many different brands available, it can be overwhelming, so I'd like to keep this one for a few more years. I've heard quite a few bad reviews from Tempur-Pedic users so I'll probably pass on this TSV. I'd like to read reviews before taking that leap.

Look at highly rated Saatva. I purchased their Zenhaven 4 yrs ago and it is wonderful. It's full natural latex (rubber) not made with petro products.  Still as comfortable as day I received. No out gassing and love the white glove delivery and free haulaway of old mattress.  Saatva has other mattresses more reasonably priced and highly rated. Never heard of company but decided to try since during covid they were only company still offering white glove delivery service.

We had one years ago also and didn’t like it Righty now in the market for a new mattress. Brother. Didn’t realize how many different kinds there are now ! This should be interesting 😀

@Beacon girl

we bought a mattress 4 years ago.  i wanted a eco friendly mattress.  did not want a mattress made with oil product (foam).  they off gas, just yuck!

did a ton of research.  found out that latex mattress are eco friendly and sustainable.  all well and good, but are they comfortable/supportive?  yes and yes.

we went with Plushbed.  we bought the hybrid.  made in CA, latex responsible sourced. latex cover made with organic cotton and wool.  you don't overheat!  we are very pleased.

i bought the mattress pad through Woolroom.

best of luck in your search!

Love my Saatva Zenhaven which is all latex.

Ha!  I have a soft 3" latex topper/cotton cover on my Cool Cloud tempurpedic mattress that's about 8 years old.  I just like extra cush. Woman Happy

Someday I may jump into a completely latex mattress.  My parents had one (talk about years ago!), and it was the most comfy bed I ever tried out.

Since we own two tempurs, I'm not bashing them.  Different bodies require different bedding.

Enjoy your day! Cat Happy

Love my latex bed.  My parents latex bed lasted for 60 years and was still comfortable. Had to get rid of it because it was a double and my bedroom furniture was all king sized.

@hkrgrl. Thank you !At least we know where to start. It certainly isn’t like our parents mattress of yrs ago when they really only had one choice . 😊

Latex foam rubber mattresses have been around since the 50's. My parents bought one and it was still going strong after 60 yrs. Had to get rid of after they passed because I had no use for a double sized bed.

I have to say that memory foam is very comfy to sleep on but I can't take the heat. I've had memory foam mattresses, toppers and pillows in all kinds of configurations but they are all too hot for me.

I gave up memory foam a few years ago and now I'm sleeping on a 3-inch latex topper plus a latex pillow.  I'ver never slept better in my entire life  🛌

...and latex is biodegradable, unlike memory foam.

Latex (rubber) also does not sleep hot.
