Like I said, it is over TikTok. Skims and Skims knockoffs are big business. I have seen shapwear on the big A with 18,000 reviews.  Lizzo just came out with a line of Shapwear and it was constantly on my Twitter and Facebook pages. 

Personally, if I am spending the money on a nice outfit I am wearing shapewear I don't care how hot it is. I think it just makes you look more polished.

I don't need a shaper - but in warm weather to keep pants from "sticking" to me when I stand up after sitting for a while (e.g. in restaurant, church, bus, etc.) .... I usually wear pantyhose or a pants liner.

I have some of those Jockey briefs - but under light fabrics - you can see a line of demarcation.

I was quite impressed with the vendor's presentation. She had a lively voice, had a nice sunny disposition, and acted professionally. She is quite pretty.
