@BlueFinch
Yep they're farmed...BUT as your post points out, they are still better than store bought or probably most farmed fish that is NOT raised as close as possible to nature as these are..( ie: stagnant overcrowded landlocked pools and ponds).
That being said..in many places you can't go to the local stores and buy "wild caught" salmon, so I buy this.
It's VERY good if you haven't tried it.
I'd like to eat only Japanese Waygu beef too...I hear it's the best...but I can't get that either, so I buy the best quality ground beef I can find for burgers, which I eat very infrequently.
I suppose I could order wild caught salmon from a mail order vendor, but so far have not, because these are very good!
Funny story....Our local ALDI( Of all places!!!) carrried, and may still, wild caught red salmon from Canadian waters ( according to the packaging which I checked before I bought...)
The pieces were 4 oz, individually wrapped, but were what QVC showed as the tail and head end of the slab...the "little" pieces. Who cares? It's still the same salmon meat!!!
I bought several bags. The flesh was dark red. The taste was excellent.
I used one 4 OZ piece with two jumbo eggs to make lunch for myself.
Gonna look next time I'm in ALDI to see if they have them again. They were in the frozen food upright freezers where they sell frozen raw shrimp in bags. Check it out!! It was GOOD!!!
