Our Total Gym from QVC gets used five or six times a week. It's long, but narrow. In December, the cable snapped and flew off the machine. I suppose that might be normal for something purchased in 2012, but I was not happy. Could have cut a person's face - read of that happening. DH wants me to order a replacement cable but I'm stalling. He still uses the gym for crunches and such.

@phoenixbrd The cardiologists I work with recommend checking Craigslist for exercise equipment before buying since you can find nearly new equipment at a discount from people with good intentions. You should be able to find a lot of good stuff by next month! Woman LOL

Yes, February will probably be the best month for unused equipment!  Buying second hand is a good idea...when I think of what I paid for equipment that was given away!Smiley Frustrated

@AuntG: The something has happened to me but I love mine and have had it 20 years this year. Still use it every other day. We turned our spare bedroom into our home gym. Mine stays up all the time.

The cables last just so long but I calculate about 7 years each. I'm on my 3rd set since last year. I need to monitor the cable more closely but after a couple of years I just forget. Love, love using mine. I still use light free weights and do other stuff but the TG is the best. I’m 73 so keeping my bones and muscles strong is imperative for me.

There are many reputable sellers on EBay who offer customer returns and closeout deals.  I purchased a brand new in the box Aero Pilates for more than half price.  Love Pilates!

Re: TSV Presale

[ Edited ]

@phoenixbrd Sorry I can't help with comparing the two models you mentioned but wanted to throw my two cents in 😊.  I bought a Total Gym signature series last February that was the previous month's TSV.

I pruchased it it after taking Total Gravity (gym version of Total Gym) classes at my gym.  Those classes were an additional $29 per month and that was the only time you could use those machines.

I have since canceled my gym membership and have a spare bedroom set up as my home gym.  I also have Pilates Reformer in there.   I use both machines several times per week. Had I not taken the Total Gravity classes I'm sure I never would have bought the Total Gym. I would not have been confident in what I was doing. The squat stand that came with my Total Gym was so small it was pretty useless to me.  I purchased an off-brand squat stand on Amazon that was bigger than what came with my machine, but still smaller than the one at the gym.

IF you will use it, I think the Total Gym would be an excellent purchase.  It truly is a total body workout.  And I am being embarrassingly open--how great is it that you get a total body workout while lying or sitting down?!

Good luck with your decision!  😊

ETA if you are still considering the machine, you may want to post any questions you have in the Wellness forum as there are some TG users who frequent that forum.
