TSV

Why would we want to stream 4K content to a display that is only 720p?  QVC, it's time to stop bringing in these cheap laptops with 720p resolution.  The standard is FULL HD (1080p), why are you still selling laptops with medicore display resoution?

@Drewps5co0tt   In many circumstances, I don't buy newest, biggest, etc.

That might not be true even for my next laptop, but that one isn't on my buy list this summer -- unless this one dies.

That's because QVC typically sells yesterdays technology today in hopes people won't notice or bother to check around.

The Celeron processor isn't that much either...BUT...

For what most people do ( e mail, surf the web, simple stuff) this is probably an OK buy.

I watch the 100% financial station CNBC every day all day, and HP and other computer manufacturers are going thru a severe bad patch right now, in part because so many people replaced thier computers during Covid when they worked or schooled from home...so these "buys" should be plentiful..

I use an ACER chromebook which is OK for me. I don't do gaming or streaming or download movies and content, just basically look.

I think this would be a good deal for the person that does the same.

One caveat...NEVER buy a computer because of the COLOR of it's plastic case!!!

Look first at the processor, the screen resolution, and what you can and cannot connect to it ( a remote monitor, direct connect to the internet instead of only WIFI, etc., DVD player if that's important, SSD for sure-though I can't believe hard drives are still being made)..

Also Google the model to see if it has specific bugs. This chromebook is nice, but it shuts down intermittently on it's own. I like it OK for what I use it for. And it was CHEAP. I'd buy another in a heartbeat.

Color is secondary!!!

I am not tech savvy I don't know enough about computers so I am never sure what to buy. So I take it this is not a good deal? What exactly does streaming mean are you limited as to what you can do with it? I currently have the Samsung Pro Chromebook which I spent $500 for about maybe four years ago. I hate it and will never buy another Chromebook again.

I think that if you're watching a movie or playing games on such a small screen, the difference between 720p and 1080p won't matter much to most people.

IMO, people are attracted to the easy pay options which aren't available at other retailers.  And probably a lot of people aren't that "tech savvy" including myself to really care.

The Stream is HP's version of Google's Chromebook but HP has integrated Windows 11 operating system into it so you can run windows apps which Chromebooks cannot. Chromebooks are limited to Google apps from their app store.

The advantage of having Win11 is that you can use the Stream without being connected to the internet. Chromebooks need to be connected to the internet in order for you to use them...they are strictly web/browser based devices solely dependent on the internet.

For those that are asking if this is a good value...not for someone who (like me) is tech savy), no, it's not.  The displays resolution is the lowest, 720p resolution available on the market today (it's not even 1600x900) which is between 720p and 1080p...that's just sad!

The processor is also very cheap, do not buy anything "Celeron", period!  Ram is pretty low too, and the 128GB SSD storage is laughable.  However yes there is a market, I understand that.

I am waiting out for Black Friday this year, because every year they always do a bangin' laptop for a TSV (that usually has pretty darn good specs)!  Althought the display resolution probably won't be more than 1600x900 (I can live with that) but it's still ridiculous that manufactures are still pumping out 720p/900p displays in 2022.
