Re: TSV Bag and Its Manufacturing

@Caaareful Shopper    Thank you.  I never thought of that.  Perhaps that;s the answer.   I just found it interesting that all colors are available including the dusty rose/pink that sold out in a matter of hours.

@foxxee They were intentionally misleading!  Your bag is super cute!

@Teddixat @Caaareful Shopper Thanks for the astute observations and information. I do notice a constant encouragement to check out.

Thank you, all, for helping me out with my inaugural post!

Re: TSV Bag and Its Manufacturing

The rep for the brand stated a couple times during the TSV presentations that the leather is from Upstate New York. I have an American Leather backpack and it’s made in Vietnam. Excellent quality! Highly recommend. I’ve said this before that any item of clothing I’ve ever bought that’s been made in Vietnam has been great!

@KewVeeSeaANDme   the TSV bag is now available on line IN ALL COLORS for $7.00 more than the TSV price.   I find that interesting since most of the colors were supposedly sold out yesterday, but all colors  have magically appeared on line today.   I don't pay a lot of attention to TSV sellouts but it seems that they only allot so many to be so,d at the TSV price.  At least it appears to be the case for this TSV.

@Teddixat   I think what actually happens is that people impulse shop with their favorite hosts and get excited by the rush to order countdown.  They put items in the cart, and some completely through the purchase process.

But when the excitement is over and the next presentation begins, a lot of those shoppers change their mind and remove it from their Cart, or go back and Cancel if they actually made the purchase.

That's the real reason so many hosts harp on about "complete the purchase and don't leave it in your Cart!"  They know they often lose sales if you actually give yourself time to think and then remove the item, instead of  impulse shop.

i answered this yesterday , and somehow it got deleted!

totally agree^^^

if this bag were made in USA, it would be well over $300.... you can buy american made but you will pay triple for it.   just google "handbags made in USA"

one really nice canvas bag is Artifact.  bought one for my DD when she received her doctorate and needed for work.

Re: TSV Bag and Its Manufacturing

I'm still so happy to have opened a dialogue! Sorry for the dissertation. I will preface this with a vague acknowledgement that I am not in QVC's key demographic.

I understand everyone's feedback- regarding car manufacturing and sourcing domestically, unfortunately that's fairly out of our control if we need a car to get around.

I'm not even so annoyed to not buy American (though I'd love to; it is cost prohibitive)! I just don't like the vague evoking of American made and then being super evasive. QVC is by no means alone in this practice.

I know a fellow user here mentioned the leather utilized for that TSV bag is American. I don't believe that is true. From American Leather Company's website, a cursory search of "Austin" shows that the triple-entry hobo touts that is made from "100% genuine American leather". The east-west satchel is "100% glove leather" (with no mention of its provenance), and the Austin double entry -which retails allegedly at $165 and is now at $107 and seems closest to what the Q had the other day- just reads "glove tanned leather".

I noticed during the TSV presentations, they mentioned how the company is proud to be from Albany, started with American leather, etc. but again danced around how the company functions now or the origins of its leather.

I promise I'm not a troll! The day of the TSV, I really don't think anyone explicitly said even the leather was from America, but I very well could be wrong. (Total speculation, too, but I feel like if it was mine and others' question on the pages Q&A would say something like "while the leather is indeed American, the bag is manufactured in one of our many international factories" or some sort of corporate spin on it but with an emphasis of some domestic association).

To put this in perspective, I did buy the much hated on Miz Mooz shoes (love them, btw). Prior to this, I did a deep dive on the company and paid attention to how it was presented. Anyway, they are indeed made in Bosnia, and doing a cusory search on labor practices there, it seems... fine? In this case during the TSV presentations, the rep and the hosts would say how Miz Mooz is a New York company but they outsource to small European shoemakers.

TL;DR- I strive to make mindful purchases and not support countries which engage in horrific labor practices, and like a million other companies, the Q plays on our desire to get domestic or ethically sourced goods.

Re: TSV Bag and Its Manufacturing

Carver Dan’s beautiful hand carved wooden puzzle boxes are made in Vietnam too. That’s where he and his family live. They’ve shown the artisans making the boxes on the Q many times. I bought one for my husband with a dog and cat snuggling and it’s very well made. Highly recommend Carver Dan’s items! 🤗
