Re: TSV Bag and Its Manufacturing

@Foxxee  (and all)

Thanks so much for checking and the info. I am trying to be more mindful of the origins, supply chains, materials, etc. of my fashions and accessories, and not support fast fashion. I realize alternatives are often so costly, but I try.

I noticed during the Fri-Yay show this evening, the rep for the company mentioned the leather group thing they work with. Incidentally, the quotation marks around responsible leather add some unintentional humor. From the TSV page (accessed 2/23/2024 at 19:20):

"We have been members of the Leather Working Group since 2022 and are proud to currently source 95% of our leather from "responsible leather" accredited tannery partners."

Based on "Steve's" (QVC rep) radio silence on multiple iterations of this inquiry, countered with his prompt and enthusiastic answers to other questions unrelated to the product's provenance, I would say it speaks volumes.

I'm inclined to believe what my partner has suggested- leather is maybe sourced in a "responsible" manner, and various factories are utilized/outsourced to execute the bag. Maybe in Vietnam, or India, etc.

Lastly, as we all know, the branding just implies this could be American made and plays on consumers' wish to support domestic products.

Near the inside bottom of the American Leather Weekender I purchased (sold out), on the tag, it says, "Made in India."

The vendor says the leather is obtained from Europe.  We find out they are made in India.  How is that American?

@Foxxee  Wow.  I never heard that the leather is now from Europe.  When they first came to QVC their claim to fame was all their leather was from America, specifically from Albany, New York.  They repeated this as their main sales pitch, over & over in every presentation.

They sure don't say it anymore though.  I just thought it was because they knew they always blurred the truth about where the bags were actually made (they were never made in America).

It's underwhelming- Nothing at all special. I don't care for this band.

Not many things are totally made in America these days, not even "American" cars are all-American. Pieces and parts are made overseas and across the border. It's the way of the (global) economy and the way of the business world today.

Yes, I thought they were made in America.  Had I known this weekender was not, I wouldn't have purchased it.

Yes.  Always a good idea to do your own research and not take anything for granted.  They will say just about anything to make a sale.

[ Edited ]

There has to be a tag in the bag where it was made. Anyone?  Now I know why I don't like this brand, as I don't care for any of AK bags.  I bought the first time this bag was a TSV.  It puddles, the leather is paper thin with no structure at all.  Last hour and only two colors gone.

The plot thickens! While logged in, I only have options for add to wishlist, even for remaining colors!

I can see the still available bags in a private browsing tab, and add one to my cart. Also, partner can add the available bags to cart on their browser.

Am I being shadow banned?

@KewVeeSeaANDme   the TSV bag is now available on line IN ALL COLORS for $7.00 more than the TSV price.   I find that interesting since most of the colors were supposedly sold out yesterday, but all colors  have magically appeared on line today.   I don't pay a lot of attention to TSV sellouts but it seems that they only allot so many to be so,d at the TSV price.  At least it appears to be the case for this TSV.

@Teddixat   I think what actually happens is that people impulse shop with their favorite hosts and get excited by the rush to order countdown.  They put items in the cart, and some completely through the purchase process.

But when the excitement is over and the next presentation begins, a lot of those shoppers change their mind and remove it from their Cart, or go back and Cancel if they actually made the purchase.

That's the real reason so many hosts harp on about "complete the purchase and don't leave it in your Cart!"  They know they often lose sales if you actually give yourself time to think and then remove the item, instead of  impulse shop.
