TSV Are they really a great deal?

I have been with QVC for close to 20 years and lately I have been noticing that the TSV really isn't an awesome bargain anymore.  The TSV price is only a couple of dollars cheaper than the featured price.  The quality has certainly been lacking somewhat in their clothes and they don't seem to follow the same standards for sizing in which they used to.  Therefore I have actually been waiting till the reviews come in to see if i want to buy the item since generally the tsv price is only $5 less. Is anyone else noticing this or doing the same thing as me?  I hate the new return policy so I hate buying something when I don't know about the sizing etc.

Yes I do remember when they were great values. I'm on the west coast so my Mom and i use to watch at 9 every night to check it out and they call each other to see if we should order. I still have some of those TSVs from years ago. There were some real goodies then! Now....not so much.

I had to laugh at the Pressure Cooker a few days ago.  It was $5 off the regular price.  I can get a Cuisinart at Coscto.com for $68.  They sell the Vitamix at Costco for less as well.  I realize on the Vitamix, that you only have a black color to choose from, but for the cost and features, I'll save the over $100 everytime.  The Q has better deals on beauty kits for the most part.

I agree - they used to be about 20% off  but now they aren't worth anything. It seems to me that they make products just for TSVs now as well and it is a lesser quality product, such as poor quality fabrics, skimpy cut clothing items.

I truly believe that QVC has lost what the name of their station is:

Quality

Value

Convience

I am normally not a person that says I love the good ol days but I truly do!  The value was always awesome and what also got me was that the quality of the clothese and products were always so superior and now not so much!

Re: TSV Are they really a great deal?

You are so correct.  Many of the "MADE FOR QVC VIEWER" has cheaper parts, quality or just being sold because a newer model is coming out.

My concern also are products like WEN - Q manages to get some of the cheapest parts, paints and ingrediants  made in the world and hope they don't tarnish a vendor like Chaz who has prided himself on top hair care.

They definitely ruined Philosphy, Susan Graver and others with quality products.

Re: TSV Are they really a great deal?

Are they a great deal?  Not all of them -  but, seriously, I don't think lots of them ever were.  But TV shopping was new and different, not much was available online, and we all went for them.

There are still excellent TSV bargains - which to me means I can buy something I want for less than I'd pay some other day and that's always good as far as I'm concerned.  I quit long ago following the TSV's and ordering things I hadn't been thinking of buying.

I can't speak to the Q's clothing quality because I buy so little, but I think clothing quality is down lots of places.  I buy most of my clothes from Nordies, but each year I reject more and more of what they offer as much because of quality as because of style.  It's just not what it was until/unless I'm willing to spend way more than my life style and wallet call for.

As for the amount?  I find it strange that $5 or $10 less for an item is nothing, but so very many people complain about paying that amount for shipping.  IT'S THE SAME MONEY whether you're saving it or spending it.

Re: TSV Are they really a great deal?

Purchased a WEN TSV this past weekend. It was for $64 and if the four pieces had been bought separately, it would have been $211. I call that a good deal! I use all four of the products in the kit, so it was a no-brainer. I read threads of other WEN people and they were purchasing 2, 3, and more of those kits because of the outstanding value. So I guess it differs depending upon how QVC wans to do it, whether the vender is willing, etc. Although I didn't use the easy pay, they had that available too. So for many people the TSV on easy pay is a good thing.

Re: TSV Are they really a great deal?

I have noticed that the wording has changed from "Best buy of the day" to the "Best find of the day". I don't even know what that means. I know that QVC is a business & is in business to make money, but I used to trust QVC. I trusted the quality. I trusted that the value was either in a low price or a unique packaging of a product. I have been so disappointed in QVC lately. I know it's not the only place to shop, but it's my QVC. And, I am very disappointed in them. The Super Saturday sale was my biggest eye opener. The Bowflex Fitness Tracker that they sold for $24.98 was the exact same thing as the one that was on clearance WITH 81 ONE star ratngs because it didn't work! I only discovered this when the tracker that I had sent to my sister, as a gift, didn't work. They had changed the item number & sold it as a Super Saturday value. Now they knew that it was not a good product & I trusted them. I ordered it. My sister was so excited to open a surprise in the mail. Tried to make it work. Assumed she was doing something wrong. Tried to make it work & didn't want to tell me that my gift didn't work. I had to get it from her, called QVC to check how to return a defective item, repackaged it, returned it & then had to check to see if they got the return. They did, but even though I did exactly as they said I was not credited the entire amount & had to call & ask them to correct that. Which they did. But, it was a hassle. So I always look to see what the TSV is & I do still buy some things, but no I don't think they are great values, most of the time & I do question whether or not it's quality any more.

Re: TSV Are they really a great deal?

I'm not sure if the bargains were better before or if I just blindly believed what they told me about what a good deal I was getting.  Somewhere along the line I found myself saying "hey, wait a minute  . . . " more often to their wonderful and exciting claims.

There are times when items sold on infomercials come to QVC with a special package that includes something "extra" that's not included with the informercial.  If it's truly something I want and I can't get it anywhere else for a lower price, I prefer to get the item from QVC rather than through an infomercial because so often the informercial will lock you into future shipments and automatic charges.

But to answer the original question, the answer is NO.  The TSV is a slightly reduced price from the regular QVC price, but hardly ever a "great deal".
