I am a health care professional. no, not a Dr like Dr. Perricone. However, I must warn people about the Super Greens. Dark green vegetable are high in vitamin K and are dangerous to people taking the blood thinner coumadin. vitamin K counteracts the blood thinning properties of the meds.  Dark greens are high in potassium. Potassium is dangerous to someone who has compromised kidney fincution. Please contact your doctor before using this product.

@mandylily  ..... thanks for mentioning this ... I was going to post the same thing about the danger to people taking blood thinners .... I don’t know how the Perricone representative is drinking so many of them one right after another??? .... I would be in the bathroom for the entire day if I ate(drank) all of these vegetables!!

@January121  and @mandylilly Just a heads up. I don't believe any of these vendors or hosts really know what is really in these powders or supplements.  Buyer beware

Re: Super Greens by Perricone

There are so many of these 'greens' type powders on the market and their ingredient lists, to me, are very daunting to say the least. How does anyone really understand what they are getting??! You almost have to a chemist to understand it all...and I am a chemist and it still is daunting.

Not yet, but it's in my cart over there. I still have some other (PipingRock) greens powder left and I want to use it up before I buy more. I'm switching brands because what I'm using now is no longer available in an organic blend. Too bad because the price was right and it tastes pretty good, too.  @MrsCat21

You need to look what's in the ingredients.  Look up Maltidextrin!  Also natural flavors is MSG. Natural doesn't mean it's good for you!  You want it to be certified organic!  It may have vegetables but how were they grown?

@SilleeMee  Hi ...  I'm open to suggestions.  Do you have an organic product that tastes good, that you can recommend?  Thanks.

@nyc1

I use Lindberg Organic Greens and Reds--two separate products.  Around $20 for a 30 day supply.

@geezerette  Where do you purchase?  Thanks.

@nyc1

I get mine from Nutrition Express along with some other things I get there consistently.  I think Amazon may carry it, although I haven't checked their prices.  I thought I saw that Piping Rock had it too, although I'm not sure if those two places have the Red formula.  I just got an order yesterday.  $19.99 per container (30 days).

Taken alone, the Green formula is 'okay' tasting, not bad.  Red alone is quite tasty.  But I mix the green and red together every day in a glass of water first thing in the morning.  Tastes better.  😉

I already take Andrew Lessman's Cruciferous Vegetable Extracts.  I open one capsule a day into a 16 ounce travel cup of water.  I feel fantastic.  I have no reason to change.

Of all these so called vendors, I would trust Andrew Lessman. You never know what you are drinking and if it is beneficial.

Check out V8 Juice and V8 Healthy Greens. Google them and read the ingredients.

Re: Super Greens by Perricone

It's not only renal issues we must consider, but remember that drugs we take -- including several antihypertensives, can raise potassium levels, too.

I take Losartan (B/P) and it's one of the potassium sparing drugs, that can result in hyperkalemia, if too much dietary, or supplemental potassium is added. There's a warning to not even use salt substitutes, since they are high in potassium.

I'd be interested in how much potassium, per serving, with these Super Greens. Does it say anywhere?  I think that there can be too much of just about any good thing.

Veggies are my friend, but when you think about it, no one was ever expected to gulp down a bushel baskets worth of greens in one glass.  It's a lot to process.
