Recent Sun Joe TSV - Generator

After doing some research DH thought this would be a good idea. So we ordered one.

It came yesterday. When he got home a little while ago he planned to check it out. So he started with the instruction manual.

He was not happy when he found out you CAN'T GET THIS WET! There is a danger of electrocution!

So he said, "What am I supposed to do- stand outside and hold an umbrella over it?"

Usually when our power goes out we are having stormy weather.

He said he doesn't remember them mentioning that during the sales presentation.

So he called Sun Joe. The lady who answered wasn't able to help much.

Do any of you have any advice? Did you order this also not knowing this fact about it?

@beach-mom   that's more than scary.   and it's weird--   My understanding is that all generators have t9 be used outdoors.  That's where the rain is

Re: Recent Sun Joe TSV - Generator

Did remember hearing  the vendor telling Dan Hughes when Dan asked that someone was asking  if it could get wet . I thought answer would be YES but vendor  did say he hooks an umbrella over what he supposedly owns , so it doesn't get wet thought that was  a bit of a red flag to see a generator with an umbrella hooked to it.

Re: Recent Sun Joe TSV - Generator

I was curious and searched for this item on QVC but nothing came up.  Then I "googled" it.  There is a Sun Joe generator that's for "indoor/outdoor" use.  It runs on batteries.  Maybe this is the one the OP ordered.

@beach-mom  Out of curiosity I looked at this item. Under questions and answers it says no snow or rain near generator.

Re: Recent Sun Joe TSV - Generator

@beach-mom I found this under the Q&A. someone asked: Since the unit is left outside while running, does it require anything to protect it from the elements (snow and rain)?

And this was the reply from Sun Joe:

It is recommended for the Sun Joe 4100W Portable Propane Generator with Push Start to be placed in an area where Snow or Rain does not touch the unit. Hope this helps, if you have any other questions please let us know.
Thanks

@kaydee50    TY.   that certainly takes care of my concern.  Didn't know such a thing as an indoor generator existed.    I stopped paying any attention when I sold my single family home.
