Re: Rastelli’s TSV - July 10, 2024

I'm terribly disappointed, one chop has 710 mg of sodium. If anybody is trying to watch their sodium intake a plain piece of meat would be a good choice, imagine my surprise when I checked the nutritional info. I'm glad I did.

rastelli fillet steaks have only 95 mg of sodium.

Sodium injection is why I hardly buy pork anymore. Most are injected with a solution to make them juicy which is really just salt water.

Getting tired of always having to read labels on everything, but it's gotta be done. If food pdts sold here don't list ingredients, I won't buy. And often new food pdts don't list them which really turns me off.

Re: Rastelli’s TSV - July 10, 2024

They look good to me. I've bought their ground beef patties numerous times and have always been pleasantly happy with them. My grocer sells pork ribeye steaks that are very good so I'll stick with them for now. When I was growing up, we had to cook our pork to death. I was happy to see that's not the case now. If I couldn't get them locally, I'd definitely purchase this TSV, it would be a great convenience to me.

@Bhvbum .  The salt content is the main reason for me not ordering any food from QVC.  Also, I ordered sirloin steaks from Rastelli many years ago and they were nothing great.

Count me out.

When I was younger, I would check nutrition labels for calories. These days, I check the sodium levels.

I eat pork so very rarely.  So that's one thing I prefer to get at one of the local great restaurants near me.  I like smothered pork chops, and baby back ribs.  I can eat that, then not want it again for another 8 to 9 months or so.

Re: Rastelli’s TSV - July 10, 2024

I'm fairly certain that if you inject the soles of your shoes with 20% solution of salt water, they will cook up tender too.

That percentage appears to be high by industry standards for salt injection of meat.

But...it's hand trimmed, flash frozen, can be pounded to within an inch of it's life to make TWO servings...

AND....wait for it...

Like all Rastelli meat claims, It probably comes from "special pigs"!!!! ( they have thier own line at the slaughterhouse...they just show thier QR code to go to the head of the line....)....

Sheeeesh. Don't people read the ingrediients?

710 MG of sodium for ONE of these things? Pretty sure that's a LOT higher than plain pork meat. ( 3 oz plain pork meat has @47 MG)....so this to ME, would say "processed food".

O wait. 20% sodium solution injected ( they say "sea salt" as if that isn't ....sodium....!!!)

Bon Apetite!
