Just bought the tsv. How do you cook pinto beans in pc? I'm new to all this
HI @Anne91. If you want to cook them from dried, you have two options. You can soak the beans first - either soak them in a bowl of water overnight OR put them in the cooker, covered with water by at least 1 inch and cook them for 5 minutes and let the pressure drop naturally. Then, drain the beans and cook them with some aromatics (large chunk of carrots, celery, onion, bay leaf, etc...) for 8 - 10 minutes. Release the pressure naturally or quick release. If you don't have time (or forgot) to soak them, cook them for 25 minutes with a natural pressure release. The reason you want to soak them first is that you'll remove some of the ... how shall I say this... "flatulent" effect of the beans. Give it a try - you'll get the hang of it after one go, I promise. You can find more info on www.bluejeanchef.com under "Pressure Cooking 101".

Thanks Merideth for the info on the silcone rack system for the 4 qt pressure cooker. i just odered it in black and look forward to using it. since purchasing this pressure cooker i have really IMO become quite a better cook. This pressure cooker is so easy to use and with your recipes as a guide it has become quite a pleasure to cook. I want to try your cheesy beef mac but can't find the recipe. Can you guide me as to where to find it? Thanks again.

Hi Meredith,
I'm looking to purchase one of your pressure cooker cookbooks and I'm wondering how they differ. Are there different recipes between all three of them? My family enjoys more of the "hearty comfort foods," so any suggestions on which book would provide the best recipes for that?
Thanks SO much for your help. All three books have rave reviews so I can't decide!
Kathryn
PS: Are they all designed to work with a Cook's Essential's pressure cooker? (I have a 6qt from Cook's Essentials).

Hi Meredith,
Question about your new pressure cooker cookbook. It says that it's designed for the 4qt cooker, however, I purchased the 6qt cooker awhile back when it was a TSV. Would I still be able to follow your new recipes? Or how would I adjust accordingly?
Thanks so much!
Kathryn
Hi @Kathryn887. You can definitely cook all the recipes in a 6 qt. cooker without any problem! There aren't too many recipes out there for a 4 qt. cooker, so we were just making sure everyone knew these would fit in that size too. Same time whether you are making a 1x recipe or increasing it.

Can the silcone inserts K12256 that you can use for cakes with this pressure cooker also be used in the recent TSV Cooks Essential 3.5 qt air fryer?
HI @LotsofSparkle. I don't recommend the silicone inserts for the air fryer because the handles can reach up and touch the element of the air fryer.

Can we use the silicone rack for your cheesecake recipe and will it fit in other brands...I have a 6 qt that is still going strong. I'm at work...be back later. TIA

Hi! I'm excited about this pressure cooker. It's the perfect size for my family, I know we'll use it several times a week, it's a great price, and it looks beautiful! However, when I read the reviews for the CE 6qt. cooker, I was concerned that were several users that reported what seem to be manufacturing defects. Have those problems been addressed in the 4qt.? Also, what is the actual base footprint measurement?
Hi @smoss. I have not heard of any manufacturing defects that haven't been addressed by the customer service of the manufacturer, or been attributed to user error. So, I feel confident in representing this pressure cooker and can assure you that I've had no issues with any of the cookers (and I have A LOT). The base measurement is about 12" square.

Can I make hard boiled eggs in this 4qt pressure cooker? If so how many eggs and how long would it take? Thankyou
Hi @cann. You sure can! I've included that in some of the recipes available online here: http://www.qvc.com/footers/cd/pdf/K44020_Recipes.pdf You can cook as many eggs as you like - 6 minutes.
