Pronunciation is regional. Just because you pronounce a word a certain way doesn't dictate that it is imperative that your pronunciation is correct. Who knows? Maybe you're saying it wrong.

If you are referring to a certain fabric pattern, you are correct. The pronunciation is universal.

No one in the booth thought to correct her immediately!?!?!  This is not a small little community production,  It is a multi-million dollar sales channel.

If I heard someone say toile with an 'ay' on the end I would have NO IDEA what they were trying sell me.

Yes let’s make excuses for not pronouncing a word correctly. Of course there are regional accents - I’m from a place that has many unique words and we have a heavy accent. That doesn’t mean that all words don’t have a proper pronunciation. Geeze!

Learning how to be a new host is not the same as mispronouncing words. One has nothing to do with the other. They are supposed to do their homework before they are on the air. They make good money and it’s part of the job. The other poster is correct that management should have told her immediately. That’s why they wear earbuds.
