I purchased these last year and they were just gorgeous until the deer found them. They took time to grow and bloom, I fed them and waited. I was so excited until one morning I came down for breakfast, looked out the window, and every plant was gone! The deer ate them down to the roots. I was so sad. Spraying Deer Out helps, but not always!

Very tempting because I paid $5 a plant last year, so the price point seemed fair. However, I saw that they ship in pots less than two inches in diameter. If that's the case, my greenhouse plants are larger. I guess I'll shop local this year, but I think many viewers would be happy with this TSV - especially if they like the ease of shopping from home.

I think the price is good, but I don't like the color combos offered. I always plant dark pink, light pink and white. I don't want red or salmon or lavender.
I have never had much luck with tv plants except for the Day Lilly bulbs. You can't kill those things. I put in a new walkway and removed some Day Lilly plants. I threw them in the compost pile where they came up continued to bloom into the next year and beyond.

By the time they get that big it's the end of the summer and they're annuals.
I am not buying online anymore, I'm always disappointed in the size they say they will get to.
Pat is all over the place, she is not a gardner.

In many years gone by I've picked up a couple of interesting plants/bulbs here from those knuckleheads at Roberta's. They were beautiful - Starfire Lilies. Some bloomed, some did not. I stopped buying plants online here, if I do buy online it's from a very reputable complany who KNOWS what they're doing AND their plants actually grow.
I buy local, much better ALWAYS.
Impatients and Sunpatients are two different plants. Sunpatients just in the past 2 years have been available in my local nurseries, last year I paid about $6 or $7 per plant. Impatients are much cheaper and do not tolerate sun. Sunpatients by their very name, do.
I buy every year from Philip and have never ever had a plant not do great. I also buy some locally for different colors to add to my garden. I ordered the pinks this year.

@luvmyteddy4 SunPatients grow very fast and will bloom to the first hard frost. For us here in PA, that means we get good color from June through October. One of these plants will fill a fairly large pot. Great bang for your buck. Here's an October pic of two of mine from last year.
That's one plant per pot. I didn't buy mine from Phillip, but I would bet his would do just as well.

Phillip has been yanked around by QVC for so many years, when before he used to be their number one garden/flower vendor.
They have not treated him well, and he is brilliant horticulturist. He is the nicest man, and I will support him. He has crawled his way back to the Q, getting small shows here and there. He does it because he has such a fan base, he wants those people to have flowers too. He also answers questions and gives advice on his Facebook page which not many vendors do.
Now he has a TSV and I am very happy for him. If he succeeds, maybe QVC will give him more on air hours.
@gabstoomuch I think you have a vivid imagination. If Philip had been so mistreated by QVC he would have disappeared years ago. He has had problems and QVC seems to have been very patient in trying to work with him. We have no way of knowing what goes on between QVC and the vendors.

I have been wanting to try the sunpatiens for a couple of years but they get a big thumbs- down from the people at the local garden centers here. The tsv price is much better so I will order and see what happens. Would love to add container color and I think I will order the pink since the price is so good, I would spend way more at any local place here, and the sunpatiens are very hard to find.

I have had many failures with buying local, but mostly good results. Rare to find sunpatiens here. I liked the presentation and the price is excellent, so will be ordering. I remember Phillip Watson from a long time ago. They need to have him on the air more. Sometimes the bad reviews are from people who don't have a clue how to grow things. It takes more effort than putting them in dirt and forgetting about them. They need water and maybe feeding.

Sunpatiens are fairly common in garden stores around here. My recommendation is to buy locally if you can.
