Blue tinted bottles will not protect light-sensitive retinol. I never understood why he uses those blue tinted bottles...and in dropper bottles, no less. Retinol is light and air sensitive. It needs to be in an opaque air-tight container or else it will lose effectiveness quickly. So essentially it becomes just a moisturizer.

Not a fan of PTR & don't buy his products. Are you sure about the tinted blue not protecting light-sensitive retinol. When I google this is what comes up:

The benefits of cobalt blue glass are rooted in its ability to protect light-sensitive ingredients such as Alpha-Hydroxy-Acids (AHAs), retinol and salicylic acid. Packaging such ingredients in cobalt blue glass bottles helps preserve them and keep them in optimal condition.

@ahoymate - I was about to post the same information, but you beat me to it.

Cobalt blue glass is a good choice to protect these products.  It's easy enough for anyone to google the subject.  No need to wrap anything in foil.

"The dark blue hue of the glass is perfect for blocking out the light, ensuring the contents remain safe from photochemical reactions."

"The material is functional too. Cobalt blue glass benefits from light protection technology, which helps preserve the integrity of the product inside. Compared to alternative packaging options, this blue hue provides superior protection from photochemical reactions caused by light."

"Cobalt blue glass helps to protect the delicate natural ingredients in skincare products from light degradation by filtering both visible light and UV rays, as opposed to green glass used in the drinks industry, which only filters visible light.

Blue glass is a more natural and sustainable choice of packaging than plastic as it requires less energy to produce and recycle, can be reused multiple times or repurposed, and, unlike plastic, doesn’t leach chemicals into the product inside."

As with any other product, it makes sense to keep it out of direct sunlight, no matter what color the bottle.

It is his son.  Everytime PTR is on it's his same product.  It's creepy watching his Mom apply that product.

Ideally retinol should be stored in an airless opaque container to preserve it's efficacy.

If it is stored in a glass bottle then amber would be the better choice over blue glass. Amber glass offers the most optimal UV protection even better than blue glass.

I'm a chemist and I've been around many bottles of chemicals over the years. I can't remember seeing blue glass used for storing any chemical that I know of. Amber is a renowned for it's ability to protect from light damage.

Well, we all know that Manuela is a valued cosmetic chemist, and her Retiniacin comes in a brown glass bottle.

I've never hear of Manuela, so I guess we don't all know.
