Re: Only $51.03 Each Month for FIVE Months

[ Edited ]

Well, I have been super happy with my Martha Stewart enameled cast iron.  All enameled cast iron will stick if used improperly.  The review for one MS item seems to include reviews for ALL of her enameled cast iron cookware.  For example, the reviews for the 8 qt oval include 2364 reviews, of which 1873 are 5 star and another 208 are 4 star for different items.  The reviews seeming to mention bad sticking are for the fry pan, not the Dutch ovens.  All I can say is good luck in your quest for perfection!  There are many choices; I'm sure you will find what you want at the price you want to pay.

@Solar Is My Name

Personally, I think that's ridiculous.

Of course, a large part of your consideration would be:

1-- how often would you actually use this?

2--how many people do you cook for on a regular basis?

3--do you have the storage space to accomodate someting this big?

I'm sure there are other considerations, but these came to mind immediately.

I definitely would pass on something I'd use only once or twice a year.

A friend at work swears by her Amazon Basics cast iron Dutch oven. She's had it for years and it still looks brand new.

They are inexpensive. $45 - $70 dollar range.

I have a small 3 qt Cook Essentials cast iron pot that is probably close to 8 years old that is still going strong. It was probably 20 bucks on clearance.

I don't need a pot to outlive me 🤣

Sorry France, ooh la la 😉🤭

l got a beautiful one from Walmart it's a Pioneer Woman Brand , l love it , has pretty flowers on it .  Those pots are difficult to clean and stuff does stick on it . Putting a little oil on it helps a lot !  l don't remember what l paid for it , but use it a lot !

Someone correct me if I'm wrong........

The recommended way to cook in an enameled cast iron pot, including the LC brand, is to let the pot heat up a little first before adding oil, let that oil heat and then add the food.

@JanetsGirl I was excited about a cheaper version so went to Macy's. Yes, a comparable one is cheaper, $119 but the reviews aren't really that great. Tons of reviews state it is difficult to clean and everything sticks. Woman Sad That is a deal breaker for me.

@cjm61 - I know everyone has their  preferences. I'm a huge Le Creuset fan. DH gave me a set as a wedding present. I had never heard of it! I've added a few since then. My round Dutch oven is one of my favorites! But I am also balking at the prices now.

I would venture to say if you find a vessel anywhere around $100, it's probably not made in France. They are coming out with more and more pieces made in China. You can still get good sales on the French ones at local and chain cookery stores. Sometimes the colors are limited, but that's never bothered me!    Smiley Happy

Le Creuset is worth the money.  This particular item did not interest me however because it's oval.  I have a larger oval that I don't use often but I use other Le Creuset  pans almost every single day.  I have quite a few and love them.
