So what is it with this trend of fewer or no sheets - especially with younger people?
That is gross. They probably get that idea from watching ads on tv because they don't put sheets on to advertise the bed. Either that or they're just to lazy to do sheets.

I can't imagine not using a flat sheet....humans sweat and it's so much easier to simply wash sheets than having to wash a comforter every week or so.
I only need to wash my comforter a few times....once at the beginning of the season and then when I put it away at the end of the season.
It reminds me of those who don't wear socks. People can get sweaty feet which leads to stinky and dirty (inside of) shoes.
ETA: I also can't imagine not using a sheet at all!!! How do those people keep their mattresses clean?! Mattresses can often be very expensive why would you want to let it get so dirty? It's not good for allergies.

I use a top sheet and always will. I had seen an article a while ago that said young people are ditching the top sheet. I was surprised.

I always use a flat sheet.
I noticed that when I was in Europe, some five star hotels did not use a top sheet. They had removable duvets on their down comforters. I really enjoyed sleeping that way, but do not enjoy trying to stuff the comforter in and out of the duvet to wash.

I have always used a flat sheet and will continue to do so.
My question to those that don't use a flat sheet is: What the heck do you use the flat sheet that comes in the set for? Do you throw it away, use it for something else? Huh?

I still use a Flat Sheet. Even in the summer I want the feeling of something covering me even if it isn't heavy.

I use them as drop cloths when painting walls, covering plants in the rare event of a freezing night below 32 degrees or I give them to an animal shelter.

I like the top sheet and wouldn't sleep without one. We use LL Bean flannel sheets in the winter and they are so soft and warm, I love them......I went through the whole Malden Mills fleece sheets phase but I am now back to my tried and true Beans! Quality is much better and they last a lot longer. Like others, I don't want to be washing my comforter every week, it would probably wear out or fade a lot faster by doing so. And no sheets???? Forget about it.

I'm probably the very odd person out here. But because I have so many issues with temperature regulation, I use two top sheets plus a blanket.
