I don't get it. The demonstration showed frozen concoctions being blended. Ninja produces good stuff but this seems like a rip off for $160. This isn't even an ice cream maker.

The Creami is an ice cream maker, just not of the typical type. It's modeled after the PacoJet ($6,000+) that's used in commercial kitchens. If you've ever had ice cream in a high-end, fancy-schmancy restaurant, it likely came from a PacoJet. It's still ice cream, just made differently. Instead of freezing the ice cream mixture while it's churning, both the PacoJet and Creami freeze it first then use specially designed blades to chop and blend the frozen mixture into the ice cream texture.

My go-to chocolate ice cream recipe is from a little Cooks Illustrated ice cream cookbook that's custard based. It works very well in the Creami and makes two pints of ice cream. I can assure you, it's ice cream.
