NYDJ how to order …..sizing ?

I'd like to try these crops , but I've never been sure how to go about ordering a size .  I'm confused by the sizing down thing .   When I look at the online actual sizing , not the chart NYDJ shows I order one size , another  on qvcs sizing chart.  If looking at QVCs I order a larger size which would be closer to my measurements and how I usually order.  I don't want a waist that digs in and is too small thats the part of a jean I dislike and makes the difference in comfort for me.  So going down 1 size seems to not make sense.   Any tips on ordering this brand ?

It confuses me too.  According to the chart they show, I wear my normal size 12 according to the measurements.  But then it says size down one.  So how can they fit????

I never buy anything from this brand because of their confusing sizing. I just don't understand the need to "size down". Why not size it correctly, if that's the case?

@bargainsgirl  I know that's exactly what I'm thinking 🤔

Re: NYDJ how to order …..sizing ?

NYJD has size differences within the brand's collections.  The Marilyn that is the cut of the TSV always seems to be the fullest to me. In those styles, I wear the 00. In the Sheri and Ami collections, I wear a 0. From my experience and that of friends who like the brand, the sizing down philosophy seems to work best if the waist is where you most often have a fit issue with pants. If your proportions are such that you consistently wear the same size pants and jeans in almost every brand you've ever tried, then I would order my usual size.

I do like NYDJ jeans, but I wish they would just adjust their sizing so that the consumer doesn't have to think so much about what size to buy.

@Kitty Galore @Krimpette @bargainsgirl

I am a size 8 in most brands like Talbots. I could squeeze into a 6 jean if I was a Q model ha ha. If I was buying Q jeans I would usuallly get S or 6.

I don't buy a lot of NYDJ but if I do I get the Marilyn size 6.  I have no tush but a mature tummy. The jeans fit but not like sausage. This is a very good price. The shipping is always slow.

I did order the Linen pant at full price. The size 6 was way large. I have reordered a 4. So indeed the sizing is all over the place. Shipping is free so that helps.

Re: NYDJ how to order …..sizing ?

It confuses a lot of people.  I've been buying NYDJ since long before they came to QVC.  I always buy my true size.  I use the size chart and that's what I buy.  I don't and never have sized down and I get my perfect fit.  I certainly could size down but the fit would be tighter and I don't like tight body hugging jeans.

Re: NYDJ how to order …..sizing ?

According to the NYDJ chart, I should wear a size 24...I actually went down TWO sizes, to a 20. They are a bit snug when I first put them on, but after sitting in them for a few minutes, the size is perfect.

I am pear-shaped, and don't often wear button/zipper pants because the waistbands (if not elastic in back) tend to be too tight and "cut" me when I sit/bend over. The NYDJ jeans don't do this.

I have several pairs of NYDJ jeans now, and they are my favorite jeans ever!

[ Edited ]

I'm with the group that orders my regular jean size, 16. 14s (purchased in retail) have been too tight for my taste, fitting my torso but not attractive to my eyes and became donations. My measurements match the size chart for 16, my regular jean size. I think it does depend on where your weight is distributed. If ordering, I probably would order both a 14 and a 16. Even though this is a Marilyn, I still find varing degrees of fit within the style. I have thin thighs and legs and often find most pants/jeans to be flapping in the breeze, getting a good fit isn't always easy.
