That sales person wanted you to buy from the store and not QVC.

I believe its the FTC that states imperfect or 2nd's must be declared.

I think that also.

do i believe that the le creuset that QVC sells are seconds?

no

do i believe that there could be le creuset defective items sold by QVC?

yes......as there could be with anything QVC sells.

i love going into the le creuset store at the tanger outlets in rehoboth beach. there is always something delicious cooking when you walk in and there can often be great deals to be found.

Re: Le Creuset seconds

[ Edited ]

Le Creuset DOES sell "second choice" or  "seconds".....the sticker on the pot is orange in color, and the box has a vivid green sticker on it indicating seconds.

You can easily see examples of this on Ebay  by looking up "Le Creuset Second Choix" or "Seconds"...even under the regular listing, seconds are clearly marked. And they include pictures of the boxes with the green stickers on them.

QVC would have to get all new NEW item boxes, switch them out, and that would be a heck of a deceit. Hard to keep a secret that large with all the people that handle the product at Q...all the hosts, vendors, set up people...just sounds crazy.

I do think they sell runs of colors that DON'T sell well....on LC's website, the NEW colors are out, and they are not any that Q is currently selling as the TSV.

Thier cooking ability is not changed by the color.

They DID sell the Classic line for the longest time, but today's TSV looks like the Signature line with the larger loop handles. It's a nice offering...one I don't need, but nice....

That saucepot they are selling with the phenolic handle ...that handle has poor reviews for the material it's made from. The LC site has a really good price on an entire cast iron 2+ qt saucepan which I think is a better value, and it comes in a million colors...

Look on Ebay at seconds to see what I mean.

I've ordered lots of  LC  from Q, Ebay ( new)  and Le Creuset and have never had a problem with any of the stuff I got..

I DO recall a lot of complaints about that lidded roaster being packed with no packing between the cast iron lid and the roaster...that sure sounds bad. The ones I've all bought have been really well packed....

A salesman in the LC outlet is just that..a salesman trying to make a sale. Doesn't surprise me that they may have implied what is sold on Q are "seconds"....they want your money!!!

And it's odd because the LC outlets also sell seconds in clearly marked boxes....and that's NOT what you get from QVC.

Q sells a lot of stuff I think is not worth the money, but I don't think they would try to pass off seconds of LC as new.

No need to. People buy it all the time almost to sell out when it's shown on TV.

Could there be defective pieces? Sure . But I don't think they deliberately lie about what they're selling.

And I guess the DON'T actually specify the LC they're selling is first quality, but they don't do that on any of the other stuff they sell either....1000's of items.

There were a lot of complaints about that packaging...with nothing between the lid and the roaster...but....QVC doesn't pack these items....they may even come directly from the vendor and the first time anyone hears about it is when the customers start getting them...

And if they WERE in the Q warehouse....the thousands of packages packed up and shipped each day I doubt the warehouse people would even notice a sound coming from the box...

@Othereeeen I totally agree with you.  But I also wonder if QVC got them cheaper because of this oversight at the factory. . .

@Sooner

Actually I DO agree with that premise...the Q got them cheaper at the factory becuase of a packaging defect ....

BUT....that does NOT mean they were "seconds"!!! ( of course once they were damaged by clinking and clunking together, they were probably returned to LC by Q when they got a ton of them back.....)

They do the same thing with last years or last generation electronics...buy a ton of them and sell for a discount, but they're not "seconds"...

Read the HSN TS thread where people have to update their brand new HP computer TS'S for HOURS when they get them home....to me, that means the units may have sat somewhere Un-Updated for a LONG time....and it's cheaper to have the customer fiddle with it...!!!!

Seconds, old models, poor packaging: All equal cheaper but maybe a bargain, maybe not.  Maybe known "issues" maybe not.

@sunshine45

Love the beach outlet. Is that the same one across the MD/Del line?

I thought it closed....wait, maybe I'm thinking about the QVC outlet that closed, that was really toooooo bad.

I spend hours in the LC outlet, and did the same at Q's outlet. I bought gorgeous Belleek, great comforters, very nice dinnerware...such a shame it closed.

Also bought tons at the Waterford & Wedgewood outlet too. A TON

I made sure the Waterford was from Ireland; stemware, bowls, vase, Seahorse, and so on.

From Wedgewood- love my Nantucket Basketweave plates and serveware.

@Othereeenthank you for your explanation and taking the time . I can now continue to buy my Le Creuset from the Q without worry. The sales person did not even pronounce it correctly LOL.

Maybe what you received was a return that was not packed as if it came from the manufacturer.
