Kitchenaid Stand Mixer TSV question

[ Edited ]

Has anyone noticed that the scraper paddle does not actually scrape or touch the sides of the bowl? Compared to other Kitchenaid models, the various attachments seem quite small for this large a bowl.

TIA

@forest...Hi don't know what model you are referring to but, they may have sent you the wrong size paddle?  The Mixers have different size paddles depending on the Bowl size & Mixer Model hope this helps...

Re: Kitchenaid Stand Mixer TSV question

The mixer came with the various attachments so I just assumed they included the appropriate ones for the set. However the bowl is one of the largest I've seen on a KA stand. My son used it to beat sugar and eggs and at the end we noted that the paddle hadn't thoroughly combined the ingredients at the bottom and then saw the scraper didn't actually scrape the sides of the bowl. The manual mentions you sometimes have to manually adjust the bowl and beater. I'll give them a call to ask about it.

Thanks!

I made a double batch of oatmeal cookies and the ingredients did not combine at the bottom of the bowl.  I did see in the manuel that you can adjust the bowl hieight.  I think there is a screw  that we both may need to adjust on this mixer.

I agree. I briefly let kid through the manual but didn't see how to do it. I'll call their 800 number next week.

I'm glad someone else noticed it!!

Re: Kitchenaid Stand Mixer TSV question

Well, after fiddling with the adjustments I've decided to return the mixer. There is no way the attachments are appropriately sized for this bowl. I think this was a "made for QVC" item and it just doesn't work efficiently. It doesn't reach the bottom of the bowl to mix ingredients or adequately scrape the sides. I'm really disappointed.

There is a beater adjustment. Read in the book about the beater/bowl screw or contact KA customer service. I had a Kitchen Aid for 23 years, but got the TSV to upgrade.

We did the adjustment yesterday and the paddle still doesn't touch the bottom or scrape the sides of the bowl. It really is a problem as the other poster indicated because you're left having to hand mix everything because the bottom portions aren't folded in. It defeats the purpose of having the mixer in the first place.

I spoke with customer service and I can return it at no charge within 10 days.

@forest...Hi just took a look at the video on QVC for the Kitchenaid Mixer & the paddle does not scrape the sides of the bowl in the video...I would send it back & look for another model.  My very Old Kitchenaid mixer paddle does scrape the sides of the bowl.
