Kitchenaid Mixer question...

I am not sure when you use the "flex edge blade"...can someone tell me when you use that beater vs the one without the rubber edge?

Re: Kitchenaid Mixer question...

This blade is used for batters like cake.  Since it's flexible, it really scrapes the sides.  I use it a lot, but I use my mixer a lot.

Any time I use the blade on my mixer I use the flex one. It just scrapes the sides better.

You should use the flex edge for batters - think cupcakes or cake. The regular beater should be used for doughs like Biscotti or thicker cookie doughs.

Re: Kitchenaid Mixer question...

They always say when a recipe says creamy or smooth you should use this attachment.its not to use with something like mashed potatoes. For instance if you wanted to cream together softened butter and sugar this would work perfect for that or for icing ,cake batter ect. Hope this helped you understand better.
