Re: KAPLAN MD TSV - July 9, 2024

Hi! @Kitty Galore

You hit the nail on the head with BREAKOUTS!! My face was covered with acne because of it!! It took a good month for it to go back to normal. 😔

If you have sensitive acne prone skin RUN from this product!! I wish I had known the ingredients would wreck so much havoc, so I’m letting others know the awful experience that I had.

Re: KAPLAN MD TSV - July 9, 2024

I like the exfoliator, but never enough to repurchase it, I found a good deal on it on ebay, so I tried it.  The retinol is impressive at 3%  twice the potency of PTR. I have been using Dr Dubrow's 3% encapsulated retinol and I do like.

Re: KAPLAN MD TSV - July 9, 2024

You're right that the 3% retinol sounds great, but if you can't find the ingredient list anywhere, I'd be VERY suspicious. Remember, they can say anything they want about cosmetics- there is no oversight.

Maybe it's not alot of money to some, but Jean is so right about other pdts costing less that are atleast as good as this- no ingredients for retinol then no comparison available.

Re: KAPLAN MD TSV - July 9, 2024

Thanks for listing the ingredients and glad they were added to the specs. Description says the retinol is a water based serum but the fourth ingredient is ALCOHOL!  No wonder they call it "tightening".  Retinol can be tough on the the skin and then you add alcohol???

Not for me but hope it works for others.

That list of ingredients seems exorbitant for being what they are...an exfoliant and a retinol.

I agree, dont like alcohol denat  as the 4th ingredient , that and high dose of retinol could be too drying. Will stick with Dr Dubrows 3%.

It works better and is easier to use than anything else I have ever tried.

I'm old and it is gentle on my skin. Minimal smile wrinkles at 85!

I bought the cleanser Duo last time it was a TSV.  It only takes a small amount so it lasts a long time.

Not true.  They often say they can't make medical claims.  If they get caught flat out lying about the percentage of retinol, they can get into trouble.  Many cosmetics companies have gotten in trouble with the FDA for making claims that crossed the line between cosmetic and medicne.  If it claims 3%, then I believe it's 3%. It's also why cosmetics will say a product reduces the APPEARANCE of lines and wrinkles.

Claims as to efficacy are another thing.  Their models are not allowed to use any other products and my bet is that these models weren't using skincare before they started using these wonder products, so of course, they're going to see some benefit from it, if only temporary.  How many times has a host rubbed a product into their hand and then show that their hand looks different than the other hand.  Yeah, right.

For me, personally, I just know I wouldn't use the product as prescribed,  I don't spend that much time washing my face in the morning, and many mornings, if I don't shower, I don't wash my face at all.  I just use a warm, wet washrag.  I don't think my face got dirty overnight, and see no reason in washing away the natural oils.
