you could save a heck of a lot if you use the My K-Cup and your favorite brand of ground coffee. no need to use the coffee pods for every cup. and, no, the pods do not come in different sizes but on the keurig machine you have a choice of a small, medium or large fill.

You do not have to use k cups. They have a holder called my k cups. It is reusable and you fill it with the ground coffee of your choice. I have used them for years. The only thing that I found was it did not work well with a fine ground coffee and never fill it completely to the top. That way you make each cup fresh as you want it. I used one for a 10 oz cup. I have even ground my own beans Medium grind and used them in a my k cup. Hope this helps. Oh another thing about once a week soak you my k cup put in vinegar water to clear the oils out of the screen. Most of the keurig's sold on the Q come with the my K cup. Just be sure to read the directions on how to put it in your machine. There are also other brands that hold your own coffee, that can be used just like a K cup and do not require you to change the holder out.

I am not a coffee drinker, but when I go to the warehouse store or a supermarket or to keurig.com I check for sales on tea and unsweetened drinks. I stock up when I see a good deal. The convenience of the k cups make the Keurig my beverage maker of choice.
I so agree, I love my Keurig. The extra cost is worth it to me. I always drink 2 and sometimes 3 cups a day.
I have ordered most of mine from Keurig. I got a coupon for 2 free boxes from them with my brewer. I signed up and ordered, and have found that they send me good coupons and specials, like buy 2 get 2, 20% off, etc. I also like that they have 5 cup sampler packs. I can try all kinds of different coffees without buying a big box.

There are several areas where you can buy a generic insert for your Keurig and use your own ground coffee.

I think it depends what you are comparing the K Cup cost to.
If you are comparing to a pot of coffee, the Mr. Coffeee pot is cheaper.
But if you go to Starbucks, DD or Tim Hortons, 3 cups doesn't even equal ONE cup from a coffee shop.
I drink coffee at different times of the day and find the convenience and ability to have whatever flavor I like, makes the K Cups a good deal for me.
You can always use My K Cup and put regular grounds in the filter too.

Of course it will depend on how strong/weak you like it. Figure roughly .50 cents per 8-12 ounce cup of coffee.
