I'm an idiot when it comes to technology! My Chromebook is nearing its lifespan in two months ( I didn't know that was a thing), I'm not interested in buying another Chromebook, is this the laptop for me, or do you think it's an easy pass?

Re: HP TSV today

It seems good for the low price.  I'm just very hesitant to buy another HP.  I got one for my grandsome some years ago and he had nothing but trouble with it.  Sent it back to HP for repair.  Then second time ended up returning it to HP for a partial refund.  Both times were in less than a year from purchase.  I've had my Dell going on 14 years and it's still working great. I have 4 GB of RAM by the way.

I have a fairly new HP Laptop Envy X360 (2 months old).  Just recently there was a blurb on the screen announcing enhancements to Windows 11.

(For many years now  .... I buy all my electronics at Best Buy.  Excellent sales staff.  I have Geek Squad membership ... fantastic support.  Totally recommend it!)

Most computers need to be replaced in about five years time and that's a good idea b/c technology advances and old technology becomes vulnerable to security threats. For me spending a lot on a laptop these days is foolish b/c I'll be replacing it in five or so years from now w/o a doubt.

You might think that a good-working old computer is fine but it's not really. It has old hardware which is incapable of new security updates. Old computers are not safe to use period.

@Jordan2

I think this HP today is almost the same as your Chromebook...of course it will have Windows instead of the Operating System on Chrome, and a few newer features, but I think the memory is the same....

Are you familiat with Windows? It's not hard to learn...

If all you do is email, browse, watch You Tube, and don't do massive downloads or game on it, this should be OK for you.

But I DO think you can get it cheaper somewhere else. Maybe not.

8G of RAM is probably more than sufficient for the average user. 4G of RAM on a laptop will be plenty for the basic user. But if you are a gamer, programmer or graphic designer then you're going to need at least 8G...most people don't do those things.

Some 4G computers are expandable to 8G. Not sure if the TSV can expand.
