I no longer trust anything that Best Buy employees say. Their days of hiring well informed employees are long gone.

Understandably so. I like to keep my computer current just to have the security of it since most of my important files are kept there. I would hate for that to be compromised by using an outdated device. That's important to me. 


As long as it is a version that is still supported by your brand you should have security no matter  how old it is


 

 

That's not true. Old hardware cannot handle new security software updates. The updates will still load but not to the fullest extent to provide complete security protection. Security updates and the hardware becomes incompatible with modern security features. 


Microsoft lets you know when they are not supporting your operating system anymore such as Windows ten is now unsupported.

Yes, that's true. An old computer will still update but it can lack updating the modern security patches where an old computer can't handle b/c the hardware is outdated.
