Has anyone bought a food saver or this food saver?  I would like to know if they work, had a problem with them, and could you find more bags?

@tampalady  I bought a Food Saver on a good discount at Kohl's years ago with every good intention to buy in bulk and use it to make smaller portions.  I ended up not using it when I realized how much the price of the bags added to my overall grocery budget and would ended up cutting into my savings by buying in bulk.  One of our kids took the FS when they moved out. I have no idea if it's currently being used.  I think you can get the bags from Costco or the website, and likely Amazon too.

The ROLLS are much cheaper if you make the bags yourself.  You can then make them any size you need.  I buy them when on sale at Sam's Club.   About 6 months ago they had an amazing sale so I bought 2 boxes...  they had both size rolls in them.

Re: Foodsaver TSV - 2/2

I have a food saver that I bought from Walmart several years ago and I use it all the time. I buy the bags with the liquid block from Walmart for freezing chicken or anything else that has some liquid

I purchased a medium chest freezer a couple of months ago and shortly after that I purchased a Food Saver vacuum sealer.  Mine is a more expensive model.  I just love it! Now I can buy in bulk!  Right now I'm only using bags but one of these days I want to try the mason jar sealer and the marinade attachment.  This has become a new hobby!

Love my Foodsaver. I've had one for about twenty years.

Thank you all for getting back to me.  I appreciated all of your comments and think I will be trying.

I just hope I do not get a lemon and have problems.  I hate sending things back.  I keep thinking that they should be made better, but again, nothing is made like the old days.

Costco has also come out with their own brand of Foodsaver type bags that cost less than their brand. That is a hidden cost of the sealer, but I would never go without owning one.

@tampalady

I bought exact one from Kohls during pandemic.  Using coupons, sale & Kohls cash I paid less than $50.

It was a "learning curve" and "fun gadget at first, but, now it's collecting "dust" as I don't buy in bulk often.  Although, at the price of meats now I may start going to Costco or Sams again.

It seals great but I find a lot of waste in bags since bag needs to be at least 2" bigger (IMO) to seal properly.  I buy the rolls at Costco, although, comes with precut to size bags I haven't used.
