I have had a few Fitbits, so I know how they work. I just got mine yesterday and got it set up this AM. It is counting about 1/2 my steps if I am lucky. Not happy.
I googled and found this LONG thread in Fitbit discussions. https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Charge-2/Undercounting-steps/td-p/1552378
I'm charging mine right now hoping it's not working correctly because the battery is low. From reading a good part of the thread above, I have a feeling this won't help.
Anyone else having problems?
Dang!

Oh, no! That's really disappointing. If you can't get it to work, I could contact FitBit customer service ASAP. I've had a few FitBits and they've always provided me with exceptional customer service. When the plastic backing fell off my Charge HR after 2 months, they sent me a replacement, no questions asked, and I had the replacement in hand 3 days later.

@ChynnaBlue It is fully charged and it is only registering about 1/2 my steps. There are gobs of complaints of this issue.
Yes, I will call them and send it back if I can't get it to work correctly.
Thanks!

@mima I have had several FitBits as well over the past years. Right now I have the HR model. I starting wearing it around my ankle under my sock as I felt on my arm I was my arm I was moving all day long as steps were being registered that I was not taking. Now with the wrist band on my ankle I get an accurate count. I do not have the strap closed of course...just put the watch around my lower leg and put the sock over it and that holds it well.

@SeaMaidenI have a fitbit One that I do that with. The reason I upgraded was so that I could have the time and steps on my wrist and I could also see who was calling on my phone and not miss calls when my phone is on silent. Putting it on my ankle would defeat my purpose in upgrading.
Good idea for others though. Thanks for replying.

I still haven't received mine, but as a long time Fitbit One user, I'm looking forward to having another device with more features.
I'll give this this a try, but if it doesn't count my steps accurately, I'll send it back and keep using the One

@september Will you please post and let me know how yours works?
I tried exagerating my movements when walking (stomping feet and swinging arms LOL) and it still missed about 10% at best.
I will call Fitbit tomorrow, but if you read some of the posts in the link I posted, I don't think there is much hope for me.
My One is right on the dot on steps. I think it is because I wear it on my ankle.

Mima, I will do that. The tracking shows that mine will be delivered by the 23rd, but it's not too far away at this point, so I'd love to get it tomorrow and try it out over the weekend.
My Fitbit One has also been so accurate...when I first got it, I wore it with a pedometer that was very good as well as a phone app.....they were always so close
When I get this new one, I plan to wear the One and the Charge at the same time, to compare.

@september I'm going to do that tomorrow.
Oh, I got mine 1 day before the estimated delivery date. I was so excited.

@mima My Charge came today. I have it set up and put it on even though I've already reached my minimum for today, using my One.
usually, I get a lot of steps on weekends, but we're due for some bad weather so I may not be able to give it a real test. I like checking out the heart rate feature, and am hoping I can utilize this more in the future to be sure I'm getting enough aerobic activity. yes, I love fitness gadgets!
