We would be covered in mosquitoes without our Dyna Trap. We have one in the front and another in the back yard. They do require a week or two to get established but start early and get ahead those pesky guys. Ours run 24/7 from Spring until Winter. Be sure to empty now and then so they can do their work effectively.

I was looking at this TSV because mosquito’s love me. I have already been bit last week when it was warmer. I may get it one to keep them out.

I am interested in buying the DynaTrap BUT not sure if it will trap the pesky gnats that fly around in our yard.

We are not bothered with " flying insects including mosquitoes, wasps, moths, beetles, and flies" (like the description says). We have tiny gnats.

We bought  a similar product but it got thrown out awhile ago. We also have several bird feeders. But the gnats come out at dusk when the birds are leaving for the day.

I have an older version that does absolutely nothing except catching the big white moths. We still get eaten alive by skeeters!

I have purchased multiple DynaTraps but will never buy them again.

I have found that they trap lots of insects the first year but after that they do not work as well.  We have ours plugged in from early spring to November.  Same experience with multiple Dynatraps. Last year Mosquitos were so bad we couldn't spend time outdoors, our Dyna Trap which was on Year 2 with a new lightbulb and bait added did not trap hardly any compared to the year prior.  Instead I kept a Termacel with me at all times and it worked (for a lot less money).

@CritterKeeper

I agree.  However, let me say at the outset that we live in the woods, so I don't expect much.

In all honesty, when we used them, I couldn't tell any difference in the mosquito population.  After a couple of seasons, I took them down and they are one step away from the trash.  I thought about trying to give them away, but it's just too much trouble.

For the last two years, I have had a service come spray once a month and that's the only thing that works.

Maybe if you have a small, unwooded yard, they are great, but for us = waste of $$.

Re: DynaTrap TSV 3/12

[ Edited ]

I watched this morning's presentation with Shawn and Sean.  According to Sean, the bugs "expire" once they fall into the trap.  It made me laugh - he kept using the word "expire."  I can understand euphemisms when it comes to humans, but with insects?

@ValuSkr , I suppose eventually they do expire but I know I've emptied mine before and moths have flown away. Seems the only thing they catch at my house were the moths, did nothing at all for my mosquito problem, which is what I wanted it for. I finally gave up after about 4 years. When they come up with something that actually traps and kills mosquitos in the south, I'll be all over that!

Sick of this device being aired so frequently ... Boring !!   Light a $5 citronella candle and be done with it. I had to tune to the channel.
