I have one from about 7 years ago. My bin comes off to clean and empty. The swing trap above the bin also is a separate piece for cleaning. The top part with the light and fan cannot be cleaned easily. It does get grimy. They provided a nice slanted flat brush that is helpful. The fan is squeeking now as it turns. I think it needs lubricant. It's not maintenance free. But it does work.
