Accepted Solution

Duraflame TSV Sept 25

[ Edited ]

I advance ordered this and it came today.  It's better than I expected (even if a bit smaller than what I expected)

I got the color called French Gray, but it doesn't look gray at all.  It's more of a dark taupe color.

I tested it a few times on a very warm night, so didn't want to heat the room up too much, but I love the look of the flames and it seems to generate a good amount of heat, too.

I've thoroughly enjoyed the one I got last fall at this time.  It's a pretty thing done in aqua.  I have a gas fireplace but prefer the electric.

@september  You can run the fireplaces without the heat.  Just turn it off and enjoy the flame.

I bought one last fall in cranberry. I have a dinning room set, so I took out my kitchen table set and put in a small couch chair, and put my duraflame in between them. It looks to cute and cosy. Hubby and I sit there drinking cocoa with the flame on. Heaven.

@Kachina624   I know it can be run without the heat, but I wanted to try out all the functions before I got rid of the packaging.

The aqua color would be so pretty in my bedroom...I may get another!

@september  Could you please tell me if this Duraflame has a digital thermostat on it?  I have tried asking the powers that be and no answer.  Have this one on my radar and appreciate your review of it.  I had also wondered about the grey color - on my computer looks more taupe or beige.

@shopontv  Yes, there is a digital thermostat on the control panel on the front of the unit (but not on the remote).  You have to open the door to see it.  It's adjustable from 62-82 degrees.

The french gray color is what I would call dark taupe...which is what I was hoping for.

@september  Thank you so very much for the info on the Duraflame.  This is just what I was hoping to hear.  Now am confused as to what color to get - so many pretty ones but I too really like the french gray.  I so appreciate your response!!

My mom is very elderly and always cold.  i have gotten her one in the past and worked fine but one day i went downstairs and the plug caught on fire at some point and the black mark all up the wall and the actual socket it was plugged into was all metled.  My son said you really need a 3 prong plug and this one was only a reg 2 prong.  I am waiiting to see if this new one coming up will have the 3 prong.  scary thing that my mom can't hear so if this was more than what it was we could have lost the whole house.

@LindaLouu   There is a three pronged plug on the heater I have.  Sorry that happened to your mom.  I think this little heater is an excellent solution to rooms that are too cold for the people (sometimes older folks) who need more heat, rather than overheating the rest of the house.
