Lanterns have their place in decorating but I also don't understand the idea of a big lantern on the floor in any random location in the house (powder room, Rick? 🙄).  Certain big dogs and toddlers could knock it over.  And if it's hot enough to heat a room, it makes me wonder how hot the metal gets.  No thanks.

Mine is quite heavy and could not be knocked over easily.  The metal does not get hot at all.

Why would you put a lamp on the floor...

I agree. It looks like something that should be on a table. Yet it's too big for a table.

Re: Duraflame TSV - October 26, 2024

I think it's a nice TSV, something different at least.   I am not in need of another small heater or lantern as I said in another thread but reading here that it is sealed would be a deal breaker for me.  If the candle dies but the heater still works you can't replace the candle.  I never buy the sealed lanterns for this reason, learned my lesson early on.

We own 2 off these and bought them at least 5 years ago. They are very well made. Sturdy and heavy enough that they won’t tip over. And the lights on both still work. One is Cinnamon and the other is Grey.

They don’t look like lamps. They look like lanterns.

And Lanterns do look good on the floor vs. on a table.

Really Q? Yet another freaking lantern, hardly a novelty around here. You had to know many folks were looking forward to one of Duraflame's stove-like heaters... Lame, very lame, especially at that price... Not even bothering to watch...

I was hoping it would be a small stove heater.  No interest in a lantern, so easy pass for me.

Re: Duraflame TSV - October 26, 2024

I have the model of this heater they sold years ago and do like it.

The one thing I do not like about the one I have is ..it is not thermostat controlled so it does not shut off when a desired temperature is reached.

I thought for sure the new model would have that feature and was planning on purchasing the new one.

I was wrong ...not thermostat again so no purchase for me.

Re: Duraflame TSV - October 26, 2024

I'm on the fence with this.  I've never been interested in the big furnace type Duraflame heaters.  It would be nice to have a thermostat.  Does it only have an on/off setting?

I have heaters, but they are UGLY.  Do you actually feel the heat coming from it from a few feet away?  I have one of those disc-shaped heaters, not sure if it's infrared or what, but I feel like I have to be right next to it to feel the heat.  Is there a fan in it that blows the heat?  I have no problem with the big lantern on the floor or the hearth concept.

We have a pellet stove for emergencies (as long as we still have power), but it's loud and you have to occasionally feed it. It's also difficult to get started, so DH does that.  Not sure I could start it myself if he was out of town and the heat went out.

Seems lately I have no need or want for the TSV's.
