Constant mention of quantity remaining

The hosts are not selling the products as much as they are relaying the number of items remaining by color etc.
It's been especially true this weekend.

I don’t think they have much discretion over how they present items.

The frantic pitch and the repetition has convinced me to watch less of the shopping channels. I am catching up on my DVR and Netflex.

There is one in particular that mentions the colors remaining,

    (in an appliances),

           every 5 minutes.

I wonder if that's supposed to incite a panicked rush to the phones to place orders?  Wouldn't affect me one way or another.  I have no interest in knowing how many have been sold or how many are left.  In about 2 weeks the "why hasn't my computer shipped" posts will begin.

I agree totally, actually had started a forum topic on this same thing last week......I hadn't watched for a while lately, getting a break from it and turned on yesterday to see them constantly selling that doorbell thing, seemed like they would have a super long presentation, head into the next hour, and there it was again....BORING as heck....I actually find myself watching less and less of QVC anymore.

They've always done this in some form or another. It was especially effective when they used to present collectibles.

It's important information for people that are considering a purchase.

That's a holdover from 'olden days' before everyone had a computer & internet at their fingertips.
In the late 1980's, on HSN, you had to place your order by phone while the item was being shown onscreen. Citing the numbers and putting a countdown clock onscreen pressured buyers to order now and think about it later.
I'd imagine QVC was the same.
They still do it because, with a portion of the audience, this technique STILL WORKS !!!
(Must be the same people who answer a phone just because it's ringing.)

Re: Constant mention of quantity remaining

If it's true that the vendors are buying time for their products, the volume sold is probably more for them than for me.

I don't care how many Q sells.

If it sells out, it sells out.    With or without me.
