Re: Calista TSV - January 18, 2025

I was at the audience show with the Scarlett and and Kate. After the show we went to an atrium area. There they had vendors giving out some of their products. Calista was there and they had 3 stylists there during people's hair with the TSV. It looked nice and easy to use. Unfortunately the TSV wasn't what they were giving out. Haha. They gave one of the hairspray.

Re: Calista TSV - January 18, 2025

Well, I bought this TSV & now I have to return it.

I don't do anything to my hair: just shampoo & blow dry but I wanted to start doing "something" to it - spruce it up a bit in my old age. LOL! I love the idea of a dryer/styler in one since I am not "experienced" in hair styling & don't really want to spend a lot of time on it either.

I thought this would be perfect. Well, I thought it was just me but, after reading through the reviews, it's not just me that has a problem with the locking/unlocking of attachments. My hands are killing me from trying to get the locking ring to actually turn. I even used rubber bands & a towel to try to get more of a grip on it but it's ricidulous.

Now I have to return it. I will mark it as defective which I am sure they won't agree with.

Re: Calista TSV - January 18, 2025

I am also going to return mine, I gave up on trying to use the "locking ring" and just turn the attachment to set the parts in place.  I am glad I'm not the only one who can't turn the little ring, though.  For me, I'd put up with that issue is the dryer itself worked.  It doesn't, at least not for me.  I have a relatively short pixie cut, and the curling wands do pick up some hair, but it burns my scalp while drying the hair, and *still* gives me absolutely no curl at all.  The oval brush is so big it doesn't curl, either.  I get more curl from that teeny little perfector-type "mini-go-go" styler Calista makes, or from the Calista Air Glide, I really, really wish Maria McCool would make an AirGlide with a barrel smaller than one inch!

Wow!  Seems like QVC padded the Reviews with the paid promotion 5-star reviews from Influencer.com.  Those hold absolutely no credible weight to me.

The overall review is pretty bad indeed.

Re: Calista TSV - January 18, 2025

Unfortunatley, I am also going to be returning mine.   I REALLY wanted this to work for me but it did not work on my hair.  In fact, after trying it again today my hair was frizzier than normal.  I used the round brush attachment and it was so frizzy.  I had to go back over it with my old Revlon hairdryer brush dryer (which cost me around $35 a few years ago) to get the frizz out.   The curling wands got a little bit of my hair but not like it did on the demonstrations and did not curl my hair at all.  Also you can't change out the attachments until they cool down.  They get too hot to touch so you cannot change it out.   Anyway, very disappointed but I do hope it works for others.  Good Luck!

Re: Calista TSV - January 18, 2025

Why do I have no willpower to steer clear of the Calista products on the first go-round??!!!!  I've said it before and I'll say it again -- the Calista products are never good on the first try.  Either Maria's ideas or whomever is producing her products always seem to be tweaked once the launch is over.  I used a 20% coupon.

Agree with other posters about the two wands being too hot to just remove.  I had to use a towel because I was too lazy to go for an oven mitt!  Maria said on air there were arrows showing which direction the air flows.  I do not see any such arrows.  If you accidentally use the wrong one, your hair blows in the opposite direction of what you want so you've ruined your style.  I also think this type of apparatus lets too much hot air/wind out between the attachments so your hair flies all over the place.

I don't know what to do with this thing.  I think I'll use it once more then wrap it up.

From my experience, all Calista tools are very cheap feeling, if that even makes any sense.  I tried to figure out what material the wands are made of -- doesn't feel like metal, feels more plastic-y.

Personally, I think I need to pull the plug on this item.  And I can't even find this item on the Q Calista tools category to see reviews.  Is it not there or am I just missing it?

Maria McCool, if you're reading this review -- before you launch a product, call me, I'll try it out for you and make recommendations.

It's not just you!

OMG.

And I was a Callista fan, loved several of her devices.

Mine arrived.

Read a review that said she couldn't get the lock to turn and I am embarrassed to say I was actually distainful; people just don't follow directions.

I read the pamphlet and diagrams, I rewatched the online video.

THE LOCKING MECHANISM IS DEFECTIVE.

I am a scientist. Read, follow protocol.

Yee gads.

First I couldn't get the handle/blower without attachments to turn at all. Many attempts later, I could get the device without any attachments to go from unlock to lock.

However, putting on any attachment, and it wouldn't go to lock. AT ALL.

And I was patient. Tried gently. Nothing.

Finally, put on another attachment, this time it EVENTUALLY locked. NOW IT WON'T unlock or come off.

Reread the device reviews (still posted, although it is sold out). MANY HAD THE LOCKING PROBLEM. One had a husband who solved it. One had a husband who could not.

So many locking problems reported that ANY HONORABLE PRODUCT would post about it. Recall. Figure out why.

I suspect, as many stated in this thread that these are made cheaply. But to not initially work is horrifying.

I am not keeping it OUT OF HOPE that it works.

Poorly constructed electrical devices should be discarded.

More bad fate awaits. Danger.

Works a bit, then things fly off . . .

Again, my science training, I also wrote to customer service at Calista (no phone #). Rather than just rant to a thread.

I detailed exactly what happened wth trying to lock/unlock or attached/remove an attachment.

I pointed out all the reviews duplicating my complaints.

HERE'S THE RESPONSE:

"Please send us a photo of the locking mechanism."

Really, Folks?

1. the problem is inside, doesn't show up outside.

2. a zillion specific complaints and the response acts as if this is news

3. before putting this on the market, let alone a TSV, they would know from anyone using it, that it sticks or refuses to budge.

No apologies.

I returned it this morning.

Attachment still wouldn't come off, so needed a LARGE box.
