Re: Bethlehem Lights TSV - November 5, 2024

I wrote a similar comment before seeing yours.  I hope QVC/BL brand rep see these comments.  I think a 3.5ft in the BL lineup would be sellers.

Re: Bethlehem Lights TSV - November 5, 2024

I've bought BL trees for over 15 yrs.  I've never had an issue with any one of them and frankly get tired of them before they show any wear - AND because they keep improving their trees over time making them more desireable.  I have 4 BL trees that I rotate through decorating colors/themes and as they become less interesting to me I set them up on front covered porch and one on the rear covered deck as well as one in the living room and one in my office.  That way I can see the trees when I go in and out.  When I see a new tree from BL and it really catches my eye, I buy it and then donate one of the 4.  I feel good about donating a quality product with lots of life that a needy family could use and enjoy the new tree.

I am very surprised to hear that! I bought an inexpensive, pre-lit, 9 ft. tree from Wal-Mart 10 years ago, and it has definitely been through it. The lights went out after a few years, I had a whole branch completely break off one year, and it sheds like CRAZY. I actually think it sheds almost as much as a real tree, and I'm surprised it's not totally bald by now.

I am very surprised to hear a Balsam Hill would have lights that only lasted that long and that it would shed! They are expensive, and I've always assumed they were very high quality.

Can anyone who has one of these Bethlehem lights trees weigh in on them? I won't be able to get one this year, but I would like to, hopefully, buy one next year. Do the lights really only last a couple of years, and do they shed badly? I know it's probably better to string lights myself, but I just so love the ease of a pre-lit.

I strayed from BL and bought a Balsam Hill tree.  They don't have hinged or memory branches. They arrive crused in a box and there's a huge amount of fluffing that has to be done.  Although once fluffed/shaped it will hold through storage if you don't shove it in a corner.  I didn't like the lights very well - they didn't seem to be distributed well throughout the tree.  And yes they shed probably because of the lower quality pvc branches that dry out overtime and get brittle.  The don't seem to have a majority of molded tips and their molded tips to me seemed thick and to plasticy.  I went back to BL.

I think it’s perfectly normal to compare the Christmas in July TSV Tree with todays TSV no matter if you purchased or not.

We all seem to own some version of Bethlehem Lights Trees and its good to know how well they lasted lights and all. 🤗🤗🤗
