The Beekman boys are touting the benefits of colostrum in the TSV. I am wonder how they get it. It is a valuable source of nutrition for all newborns (goats too!). Do they take the kids from their mamas right after birth? If so, that is bothersome to me.

I had same concerns, this was my reply a couple posts down.
Copy/Paste:
For me it's about the animals. Just like cows, in order to keep producing milk the Mother has to be pregnant all the time - when a female is born they use her for the same purpose, most males will be sent to slaughter (I am talking cows) so, I wonder what happens to all the male goats? Anyways, this is why I can't seem to bring myself to support this brand. This is just MY views, everyone will have a diff. opinion.

@GusMo I thought the very same thing. The Mom does not make it for very long which is one of the reasons why it's so critial for the baby to get that right away..... and for the sake of the baby's immune system and start in life. Unless she makes WAY MORE than necessary, how would you get this?
Maybe I'm watching too much on Animal Planet and NatGeoWild!!!!!

This needs to be addressed. I just cancelled my two orders from today and won't order from Beekman again until they disclose on this subject.

I also wonder this too, especially as their brand is expanding. They are not a small company making goatmilk soap. They sell thousands of soaps, creams, etc on HSN, QVC and now are in Ulta. How many goats do they have? How much of the milk do they acually need to make these products?

I already replied to this above but must say, I am so happy to see people becoming more concerned about where their products are coming from and what animals may be harmed or disposed of in the process,
A mother must remain pregnant pretty much to keep producing milk, you can't tell me all these babies (espeically the males that can't make milk) are going to loving homes, if they say that, I'm not buying it for one minute!

The baby goats are what you see in the meat case labeled 'veal.
Sad, but true.

Cruelty ,thats how they get it.They are treated the same as dairy cows, which is awful.
Don't believe these poor animals are running free on grassy knowls enjoying life for one minute!!
They are bred and rebred to produce babies and their "baby food" (milk, ect) is used for all this ******
When their usefullness is over they are slautered for meat like cows and if they produce a male baby that is slautered too because it is useless to these companies, except maybe to breed !!
SOOOOO SAD!!! imo
