A couple of weeks ago there was a funny video on Facebook.  

The family had a bunch of these voice activated gadgets around the house and everytme someone started talking it would trigger some activity ... like calling the police or something unusual would be delivered ... a bunch of funny incidents.  They finally moved all the gadgets into one room and set them up to talk to one another and quietly slipped out of the house.

One of our local weather guys made a video asking for Alexa to do stuff, like walk the dog.    Her answers were a hoot!

I can see it being very valuable to people who are impared in some way but for now, I'll pass.

@ellaphant   You should keep an open mind.  the echo has been one of the best purchases I've ever made.   I play music everyday on it.  Use it not only for "to do lists" but for shopping lists as well.  I received mine two days before Thanksgiving last year and it was great for timing multiple things I was cooking/baking.

I think it is  a peek at the future.  I think in the future homes will have "suri's, Alexa's or the like wired into our homes... to take care of tasks....etc.
