Re: Almost 3 pounds of Chicken for $70

For busy parents who need to feed kids fast and get them to sports practices, games. Better than spending on fast food.

If you all think $16.40 for a pound of uncooked breaded chicken nuggets is a decent price than you really deserve to pay for it.   No wonder Corporations are confused why the rest of the U.S. is complaining about the high price of food.

My daughter has 3 children to feed and get out fast. Food for 3 at fast food would cost more than $16.40; have you been to fast food joints lately?
it's not for everyone and you are not everyone. If you think it's too pricey, don't buy. For others why shouldn't they have the option?

Shipping on dry ice is a big part of the price.

I buy prepared chicken locally in my grocery stores for much less.

The consumer has the power.  If we don't purchase any item, not just food and not just here,  the prices will go down.

I've purchased breaded chicken tenders at the grocery store for about $15/lb.  Perhaps poultry prices have gone down, but don't think they're that much overpriced.

it's one thing to pay $$$ for good food items but have u seen the reviews for Rastelli's??? i don't think there is one item with more than 2/3 stars...& if red meat is their strong point with such bad reviews...i can only imagine how good their chicken would beCat LOL

You are making a broad statement. An opinion is just that. I have read reviews saying how awful something is from Rastelli when I thought it was very good. I take reviews with a grain of salt and I do think people who are not happy tend to leave a review more than those that are happy with an item. That being said, they are on a lot so they must be selling a lot! They would have been long gone if the majority of customers were not happy.

@hopi There is another post, and some here, explaining a true definition of price gouging. THIS is definitely not price gouging.

On that note, I buy this chicken and have absolutely no regrets. Shipping is INCLUDED in the price and that is why the cost is so high. Shipping with dry ice and 2 day delivery is very expensive.

My grown kids love this chicken. They are on a much tighter budget so they have searched every store in our area for something similar. They said they could not find any. They found something similar but just not the same.

To each his own and it gets tiresome when people complain about the food prices. If customers want to purchase these items let them do so without trying to shame them. There are many reasons people pay extra, let it be.

I live in a downtown high rise apartment building.  Getting to the suburbs to go to the supermarket is a giant pain and managing an Instacart order is only marginally better.  I often order food from OVC for the convenience.  In that regard, I don't think this is at all overpriced.  Clearly your mileage varies and that's ok.  Everything isn't for everyone.

@Catch71  Lol Chicken bites are--to me--"fast" food. Microwave/air fry/oven bake them and be done with it, but I know you are referring to driving through McD's, etc. for a comparison.

I doubt that the average working family juggling kid activities is paying this price instead of getting their just-as-good nuggets at Sam's, Costco, BJ's Wholesale, Walmart, or another nearby grocery store. I'd think those buying these must be upper middle class professionals, at least. Because if wealthy, they could just have the nanny and/or cook deal with it.

Seems like the percentage of people who consider these bites a a decent value would be a rather small, select audience.
